The bulb in my Shimano headlamp has blown (only lasted a miserable 3 weeks). I've looked on the 'net but can't seem to find anywhere that sells them. It's a 6V, 2.7W xenon bulb. On the off chance, does anyone know where I can find one (or two)? I've got a feeling they are going to be expensive (for a bulb).

I'd have preferred the suspension forks to the the hub dynamo.

Thanks Watkin5. I thought one did (screw base) but it didn't give the wattage, just that it fitted myo. I'll keep looking. Oh! Maplin, I didn't check Maplin or Amazon.

Found one :) but it's not xenon. SJS cycles sell them. Might look at finding the Shimano LED headlamp that goes with a hub dynamo.

LED performance varies wildly and has improved a hell of a lot over the last year, see if you can find out the LED model before buying as it could be worse than the original bulb.

The dynamo lamp is no longer issued with 2009 Wispers (a shame IMO) but I remember some years ago reading articles claiming that fast (unpowered) riders often got through more bulbs as the dynamos overloaded them.

Wispers are fast so maybe this is the case?

The original bulb in my Wispers headlamp also didn't last very long, I did think at the time that this might be due to the pulse nature of the hub dynamo's output. I replaced it with one of these. Several months later, it's still going strong :) .

What I'd really like for xmass is one of these though :D (in black, of course ;) ) As I think the rather brickish design of the Shimano version is one of the few things that mars the aesthetics of the '08 905se.

@Dynamic, sorry but it needs to be a threaded bulb, as unusually the shimano headlamp has a screw fitting :( .
