Interesting additions.
Despite the risk of adverse reactions, I do have the odd criticisms. First is that I'm surprised they haven't cantilevered the rear suspension on the most expensive model at least. The benefits of this are almost universally understood and even cheap kids bikes often feature it these days.
The second is the weights, though it's inevitably going to be higher than average on e-bikes with bevel drive motor systems, it always has been. I think they could still be lighter though.
This said, welcome additions as ever for they are the only way to get decent bikes with crank drive and a throttle at present.
I've come in for comment for daring to point out that they use the Yamaha motor from a decade ago, note the word, motor, not whole unit, since the unit's transmission is changed. Well, this excerpt from the website supports that contention:
"Central Drive Technology which apart from YAMAHA, has gained the support of SANYO, PANASONIC and many other manufacturers".
Note the priority given to Yamaha in that statement, inferring rightly that the others followed. Yamaha were indeed the first of major manufacturers with this, in 1999, though a minor manufacturer in Britain got in before in the 1980s.

Yes, purple is a great colour on bikes, especially if offset with some gold lining. It's a colour we don't see enough.You and me both Flecc.....for me its the only flaw.....well, that and it not being purple

I like the look of the eagle, looks like quite a machine. That is my favourite in that range. Would be interesting to see where the extra weight is in them and how much of a diet they could be put on. Perhaps the extra weight is a sign of them being built quite solidly?
Although the bevel drive units are usually more heavy, I'd thought some of the extra weight came from the odd large section frame shapes. The Eagle upsets that idea though, it's just a conventional frame.
The thing that surprised me the most was the prices. I am sure I didn`t pay anything like £1200 for my Enduro and that included shipping. I will check with the purse strings holder when I get home.
I thought one of the big selling points of the Tonaro was that they sold electric bikes at throw away prices...ride them to death throw them away and buy another. With the current prices, they have come more into the mainstream market and the attraction of cheap, disposable bikes has gone.

The answer to the price rise is that costs in china have gone up wages have almost doubled the raw materials have gone up fuel cost are up the US dollar to China yen has gone down So a price increase off 20 % on all goods from China
And will continue to Increase
So all Goods from China Have Gone up and remember all price rises have 20% vat added

Interesting the clothing sector hasn't seen anywhere near as many increases.
The VAT issue has been like that for some time now and although makes a few points decrease on the Margin is hardly a huge number to swallow.
Unless they are fobbing you off with trying to get more margin I always take suppliers reasons for price increases as a pinch of salt.
Why have the workers wages doubled all of a sudden? I must have missed something ?
Raw materials are always on the rise and its something you have to take into account. Infact due to oil prices the world over there are now even slower boats to stock goods on to get the price of freight down.
Still no one likes shipping air do they...

I think the introductory factor came into it as well though, most market entries start at slightly artificial prices to get established.
Even the Kalkhoff Agattu started here with a special price, £1175 if my memory serves me correctly, but it didn't take long for them to be around £1450.

I got an e-mail from Phil at Powerpedals today and he has told me the new prices are a worst case guestimate at the moment and the prices do include delivery.
He also said that some of the prices will be higher in any case because the bikes have been fitted with better quality components.
He will know more when he takes delivery of the bikes and I would expect that he will update his web site accordingly.
Whatever happens, he will still provide first rate service.
If the price hike is due to my salemanship for Tonaro I wish for 2 things:
1. That I had shut up in the first place.
2. Phil would cut me in for a share.
I can promise that neither of those things are going to happen.
