Out on the BBS02 today, I was giving it a hard time on the tracks and some pretty steep hills.

Suddenly, I lost all power on a hill and ground to a halt without any assistance. The display was still on and the battery indicator was still showing healthy.

Firstly, I thought that the motor had overheated, as today has been pretty warm. So I rode with the unit and battery off for the next 10 minutes to give it a chance to cool.

Powered it up again, but still no joy. Mmmmm, what could it be o_O

Checked all connections, all good.... Time for a bit of brainstorming, as I didn't fancy cycling 5 miles home unassisted. I'm a lazy bugger lol.

A few minutes later it dawned on me to check the brake cut-offs. On the hydraulic sensors, if the ring magnet happens to move too far away from the sensor, then the controller shuts down.

Turned out that the gorilla tape that I had stuck the ring magnets on with, had gone tacky in the sunshine and moved slightly out of position. So even though I wasn't applying the brakes at the time, the magnet was just too far away from the sensor for the controller to operate normally.

Sometimes you expect the worst, but the solution is simple and staring you right in the face :p
