After my recent illness where I fitted my Alien front hub wheel to my rear hub Powertrek to make sure I have plenty of power for hills till I get back near fit again. I`ve been talking to Flecc re: the need to fit a front V brake to the bike because the alien wheel doesn`t have disk facility. Anyway, the fly in the oitment was the brake posts/boss. The front suspension forks have the welded lugs but trying the source the correct posts is a problem. I ordered these from HK 2x M10 M6 Titanium ti bolt Brake Mount Post Stud Set R9 on eBay (end time 26-May-10 19:10:50 BST) and they fit a treat having the right thread pitch as well as size, they carry various other sizes plus bits and bobs and are very decent to deal with where delivery was just over 7 days ( not bad considering the volcano ash hold ups.)

This is the front brake that`s on it`s way Shimano Acera M422 Acera V-brakes and BTW Simpsons are a great little bike shop, I`ve used them a few times and today the guy dismantled the brake whilst on the phone to compare all dimensions to be sure of the fit.

Just thought it was worth sharing for the future.

The Shimano front brake arrived and with a bit of machining etc it`s fitted. I must say that the V type brake(although has a longish lever travel) really does stop the bike with little effort.

I'm glad you got your stopping power sorted, you should have video'd the setting up and installing that would have been very interesting to see, well to me anyway.
