Anyone know of a wheel builder who has experience in specialist applications - tandems, unicycles, tourers, electric bikes and that kind of thing. Preferably in the London area but I can post it anywhere really.

Sounds like you have a electric tandem touring unicycle. :D

Where do you put the panniers?

(Sorry, don't know of a specialist)

The soft throwover panniers are over the rear wheel and hold a maximum of 5Kg. I'm not treating the bike badly, don't ride up or down kerbs and stay on road or on signed cycle tracks. I've just broken my third wheel in as many weeks and now I'm after some specialist help.

Yes, I remember seeing your other thread entries, it's baffling that you're getting all this trouble. Loads shouldn't affect it, my Q bike has almost the entire weight on the hub motor rear wheel and I carry huge pannier loads plus boxes on top on it's little 20" wheel which is built with a very big offset as well. That's never broken a spoke on some pretty appalling roads and they are standard spokes, not special in any way.

I think you just need a wheel builder who is very good at his craft, not necessarily having "specials" experience. If you don't find a London based one, a suggestion is to contact Kinetics in Glasgow who are very experienced in building specials to customer's requirements and who have been for long main Heinzmann agents and also the source of the Pantour suspension hubs. As such they build lots of wheels for customers with those motors and hubs and Ben Cooper there is very highly thought of.

Kinetics contact page

If you get a Google notice on that link, just ok it.
