At 22 mph, it's probably already unrestricted. I've never heard of a bike being restricted to that speed unless it's a 20mph USA version with a bit of tolerance added. You can't make an electric motor go faster by adding more power.

Is there anything written on the motor? If it's a Bafang, they often have a speed code. Other motors sometimes have the RPM.

thanks for the reply i have been into my computer on the bike and set to highest reading 45kph but i can get to 21/22mph and that is it ,it feels like the motor cuts out at that speed i also have it on power mode , bike is great love it and has great PAS but im sure a 500w motor has more speed to offer i will just keep searching internet or asking people thanks again for reply .

As I said, power has no influence on speed. You can have a 100w motor that spins to 100 mph or you can have a 6kw motor that won't go past 12 mph.

If you understand electric motors then you should know that it won't spin faster then it is wound for at 36v, the speed suggests it is about a code 11/285rpm hub.

Are there no markings at all on the hub central flange ? Although they rarely have the marked rpm there is often a code in brackets.

Many e-bikes are restricted to 25 kph (15.5 mph) to comply with the maximum assist speed allowed in numerous countries, including the UK and all of the EU and EEC countries.

But none are restricted to 22 mph for any legal reason.
