Speed sensor

how does the motor on my Eagle know when it reaches the cut off point?. Is it electronic or is there some kind of sensor on the wheel which indicates speed

wheel size via the sensor.

Most modern geared hub-motors have a hall sensor in the hub. I sends a pulse to the controller each time the wheel rotates.

If you have an older Freego, there's probably a wheel-speed sensor with a spoke magnet like you get with a cycle computer.

Thanks mate. Looks like it's in the hub. Can't see a magnet anywhere. Bike is four years old.
