Spirit/shifter arm broken (on ebike)

Anyone know if I'm going to be able to fix this? Its an old SRAM X-7 .. would like to keep it if at all possible ,,,although I understand that I could get a single twister shifter which would help ease the congestion on the handlebars ... although I'm not sure how you can get 24 gears on a single twister! ... have I got this right? ...

I would suggest aralditing a piece of thick wire bent in a u shape to join the two pieces together again.

And / or trying to melt the plastic together again with a soldering iron, though that on it's own would be too weak

I think the only way you'll get a strong enough repair is to drill well into both halves and use a snug fitting hardened rod or bolt with it's head cut off inserted with Araldite or similar. Note, not Araldite Rapid but the proper stuff that you can set with some gentle heat in a very low oven.

Thanks Flecc...I've bought a second hand twister which should enable me to have one gear control on the rhs.. It was £15.0 and Louise (the financial controller) has ok the purchase so all I've got to do now is fit it! ... or with a bit of luck I'll fall in the canal on the way to Wales this weekend and save myself another job! ..

Fitted a new dual drive unit. Suits the Spirit very well. A single control to replace the two trigger shifters. More room on the handlebar.
