Spokes for Tongxin motors

I'm thinking of lacing an Ananda / Tongxin motor into a 26" front rim for a new build project.
I've noticed that 13g spokes (single crossed) seems to be the norm for most hub motors, presumably the heavy gauge spokes mainly compensating for the reduced rigidity you get from using a single cross pattern.
Given the smaller size (and lower power output) of these motors could you get away with using 14g spokes (much more readily available) and is the flange diameter small enough to utilize a more rigid 2-cross pattern, without putting too much of a bend on the spoke at the nipple?
Incidentally, anyone know what Cytronex use on their hubs?
Any info gratefully received.
