with Xmas rapidly approaching, according to the London Cycling Campaign, theft is on the increase...

the police would like you to register at

https://www.bikeregister.com/

which has 3 levels of theft deterrent, but an Abus D lock at £89 (!) might be the second best bet..
they suggest that a lock should cost around 10% of the bike price, so Bosch bikes should be stumping up for 2 of these things

cheers barrycoll

Thanks, but no thanks, the last people I would turn to would be the police or pay for some register to inform them on my behalf of the theft I can do that myself.

I have the Abus gold mentioned it is my main use lock. also have a pragmasis

:Pragmasis Protector Chains Review - BikeRadar

rated in this review as the best chain they have ever broken..and that is the rub, any dick head with a diamond blade compact battery disc cutter can get away with your bike.....

this registration may be a good thing as it makes bike less attractive I guess (for now) But insurance and removing battery/ seat/ etc making the e bike as unattractive a propositionas as possible the only way forward i think

feel sorry for commuters leaving bike same palce day in day out as that has got to be the riskiest situation, but at least you can leave some real heavy chain at destination

My local railway station cycle racks are often a target for bike thieves, CCTV and being overlooked by offices does not seem to be a deterrent for the opportunist or 'professional' thief.

Another problem is the level of background noise, traffic, construction work, etc., mask the sound of a cordless angle grinder.

Eddie's suggestions of making the bike an unattractive prospect make good sense along with making life as difficult as possible for the thief, multiple locks and an alarm can help.

You can also get GPS tracking devices that fit inside the down tube, but prevention is the best solution.

The only way not to have a bike stolen is to buy a lead acid Angel in bright pink from us......
Only one left now, would you like it?

No thanks, you are right in that respect as bikes as unattractive as yours will never be stolen I guess.....Maybe a missed advertising opportunity? "the bike no one would bother stealing!"

that is free by the way no consulatancy fee required...

Angel for that bike is wrong spelling Hatti, there's an L of a difference. ;)
We did try to make 'only one 'L' clear to the Chinese, but in vain.....
Its was an L of a bike though if you wanted 'cheap 'n cheerful'.
I am sorry they have come to an end, but we must move on......

The probably used "Angell" as a nod to the use of lead acid Gell cells! Apart from the colour, I think this bike is very good for the price. Third class riding beats first class walking, although Flecc would disagree as he likes walking.

Hatti, as a matter of interest......have you ever found that the majority of your customers have problems getting their leg over ?

I have discussed this question in detail with another bike importer who has assured me that he, and indeed, I believe his customers, find it Easy.........

I was under the impression that with a little bit of luck on the health front, most people could continue getting their leg over well into their eighties...........mind you, these step thru models do make it a lot easier ;)

BTW.....on that other subject......I hope Court Barton will be very early december before I go to Spain ?

Lynda :)

Hi Lynda

A while back I was thinking of offering free Viagra/Cialis with every bike....but no need. Our customers seem to be an extremely perky lot.... even into their 90s...and very charming too. I think some could give my kids (late 20s) a run for their money energy-wise.
Hoping Court Barton will be 3rd or 4th week November, but if not, when are you back?

Hatti
