Hello everybody,

I am just back home after a 8kms ride in London.
I noticed on the way that, although the battery was completely charged, the motor takes a while before starting after each stop.

I am using a wisper 905se. I was wondering if this could bhe due to the temperature?
Did anyone had a similar experience?

I am undecided on whether to use the bike to go to work tomorrow, it is a 18 miles to go there and 18 to come back so really want the motor :D

Thanks,

Goryl

Goryl, Did you try using the throttle when pulling away? If the assistance starts immediately when using the throttle, I suggest you check the magnetic disc mounted in behind the chainwheel (the front sprocket). The disc needs to be around 3 mm away from the sensor head. The disc can easily be moved with your fingers.

The magnetic disc has five small magnets fitted to it. As each magnet passes the sensor, a 'pulse' is sent to the controller. when the controller receives a certain number of pulses, the assistance will start. If the disc has moved so that it wobbles, some of the pulses will not be sent, and it will take longer for the correct number of pulses to reach the controller.

Cold weather will have an effect on the battery, but this usually shows as reduced range per charge, or sudden cut-outs when climbing hills.

Hi,

The throttle was not working either. All the lights on the controller as well as on the bike were still on.

I will check the magnetic disk anyway. Thanks for the tip.

Also unplug and reconnect the battery, poor connections can have a reluctance to restart current flow.

Hi Goryl,

Sorry to read about your issue.

Have you spoken to your Wisper supplier? As Flecc says I too think you may have a lose connection somewhere.

Please let me know how you get on or if you have any problems please feel free to contact me directly? dmiall@me.com

Best regards

David

Thanks for the advices. I will drop to the shop as soon as I have a chance. Is there any common/easy connection that I can check myself (myself being a complete newbie :D)?

Hi Goryl

You could do a simple visual check starting at the motor and running along the cable to the controller, then from have a look at the connections on the distribution delta on the front of the bike chack all the connections to the brakes, the throttle and the LED consul. Any connections that may not be fully closed unplug them, check the pins are all straight and plug them firmly together again.

If you are feeling more adventurous, take the side off the controller housing immediately under the battery and make sure all the connections to the controller are firm.

If you are still having problems I advise you to take the bike to your Wisper dealer who will resolve any issues for you.

Best regards

David

As it's after each stop. it's probably one of the brake switches in the brake levers. It's either a bit sticky, not adjusted properly, or you're still touching the lever after stopping (motorcyclists do this a lot). Lift the motor wheel off the ground, open up the throttle and check each brake. It should stop as soon as you pull the brake and start again as soon as you let go. keep the throttle open while you do it.

Hello,

I am just back from the shop and it was a loose connection on the controller. Most probably due to some hard bumps on the road. They have been tapped so it should not occur again.

Thanks again for all the tips and help.
