Hi
I have the Thompson euro clasic and while out on it one day
i parked up for 5 mins
Then when i went to go again there was nothing at the throttle.

The Pedelec part of it was OK and got me home.

Now if i leave it for 10 mins to half an hour it kicks in and goes for approximately
30 seconds the stops responding to the throttle.
As i say the Pedelec part is OK.

Would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks Qwik.

From the symptoms described it could be a loose connnector or a broken wire in the cable. Do you get any response if you operate the throttle and wiggle the cable at various points from the throttle down?

Alternatively the controller might have a fault which cuts in as soon as current flows, cutting it out after that 30 seconds or so.

It's probably a good idea to have a word with Thompsons, they've imported this model for a number of years and it's still current.

Here's the contact point with phone number:

Hi
Thank you both for your replies.
As to the loose wire i have tried several times
wiggling all the wires that i can see but i will give
it a go again.

As for the controller i don't know where that is
What am i looking for.
But i will give Thompson's a try.

Thanks again Qwik.

The controller is a small electronics box that connects between the battery, motor and throttle. It receives the throttle signal and regulates the battery power going to the motor.

I hope Thompsons can help you out, I'm sure they'll know something after their many years of selling this model.

Hi flecc
Thanks for the reply
I have contacted Thompson. Will let you
know when i get any word back.

PS
Just found the manual for the bike and it
shows the controller under the tin work down by the
peddles.
Will have to see if i can get that off.

The controller is WZK-36-06-B.

Thanks for the help Qwik.

Walk along throttle on the ProConnect S.

After my commute home from work today, I noticed that the 'throttle' was not responding as I pressed it to wheel my bike up the drive into the garage:eek:

When I switched the power off and then on again the throttle worked.:)

Gremlins already?

When the power is first switched on, your unit goes through a couple of seconds self test routine and sets up the software correctly. From time to time it very occasionally happens that this doesn't complete correctly, particularly if pedalling is resumed a fraction too early after switching on. It's a bit like the faulty boot routine that happens on Windows computers sometimes, a restart and it boots correctly.

If it doesn't happen again soon, that's almost certainly the answer, if it happens more frequently from now on, it's probably a poor connection on the throttle wiring connector at the motor end. Unplugging and re-plugging the connector will fix that ok.

Hi
Update
I have managed to strip it down and and have got to the controller.
While checking all the wires for any brakes i touched a small square
box that 3 wires went into and it immediately sprung into life.
Wiggling the wires made it stop start.
So it would appear to me that is the fault.

Now the problem is this box is filled with pitch and has "C01 pulser"
stamped on the side. Any idea where i might be able to acquire
one of these.
And do you think my assumptions may be right.

Thanks Qwik.

I'm sure you're right Qwik. I can't say offhand what that component is for certain. If that part is within the controller box, the usual procedure is changing the whole controller.

Perhaps Thompsons will have spares or be able to order for you.

Hi flecc
No the part is separate from the controller
The wires go into the controller but it is stuck to the frame
with some sort of glue.
Tried google but cant find anything.

Thanks Qwik.

Not personally knowing the Euro-Classic wiring, I can only suggest trying Thompsons.

Is this box fixed to a circuit board? Perhaps a fault has devolped as a result of the solder not making a good connection (hairline fracture or dry joint). You would need to eyeball the soldered side. resoldering the connections might fix the problem even if nothing is visibly obvious.
