I was helping Saneagle fix his broken controller, and while we had it out we decided to check out the three speed switch. With the hall sensors not connected, there's no boost but the speed reducer works. To get the boost to work, you have to connect the halls. This confirms my suspicion that the boost has something to do with timing.

The maximum speed without boost was 24.6 mph, and with the boost, 26.2 mph. The sound of the motor speeding up sounded like more than 2 mph, but that's what the speedo said.

It was a KU123, but It's probably the same with other ones.

Were you testing load or unloaded?

My KU63 had a drop but no boost with hall connected. I never tested it unloaded though...

These are no-load speeds, but you can feel the difference on the road.

If the boost works like the ecrazyman 120% then that would explain why I don't get it as my motor doesn't spin up fast enough to get this boost with my EB306 either.

D8veh thanks for experimenting.
That would explain why i cannot get the speed increases on the blue wire (pad K2). The green wire (pad K1) reduces speed ok. My BPM/KU93 is sensorless so i'm unable to confirm what you are seeing.
I'm guessing, altering the timing will make it run faster but at a cost of efficiency?

I have another BPM with halls running with a 36V KU63 controller. I think this also has the wiring for a 3 speed switch...if i have time tomorrow i'm going to try it and see if i can get it to run faster.
