Hi to All!

I own KALKHOFF AGATTU xxl C8 impulse / 36 V - 250W / year 2012 /, 36V 15 AH -540 wh
and far by now use it without (major) problem.

Recently I fell low starting power! The push effect! No mater of level of assistance!
Capacity of the battery still shows 4 lights (around 80%), every six month I drain battery until system shut down (as a producer recommendation of maintenance). And speedometer magnet is on its place!

Everything seems just like bike use second level of assistance, instead of third - which one I used most of the time.

I live in Croatia, and we do not have Kalkhoff dealer any more, after the unprofessional one lose the dealership.
Also, Derby Cycle ltd redirected me to the previously mentioned former one :-/

Probably I need certain check or maintain with "Impulse service unit"?
But, maybe some of the members/owners here with Impulse first generation, experienced same problem ?
I would be very grateful for any suggestion or assistance!

Thanks in front!

Cheers!

I would charge the battery and check the voltage first with a multi meter and then post your reading on here, if it is at 80% then it probably would give a reading of 40v or so and would indicate some low cells.

That’s the total battery capacity he’s talking about not the charge. You can test both by holding the button down briefly for the charge state, and holding it down for the capacity. All batteries lose capacity and this one is three years old so will have lost some. But it shouldn’t affect the power, only the range. I assume it shows all the charge lights when it’s fully charged? You could test the voltage independently of the lights with a meter to eliminate it.

The handlebar switch control might be miss-functioning I suppose. Can you notice if you get more power when you go up the three settings? If not it might just be giving you the second. Nothing binding? Brakes are adjusted?

@JohnCade, when I check the battery for capacity (by holding button 5 for seconds) it indicates 4 lights. I believe that is around up to 80% of capacity.
And nothing is binding or broken on the bike. The handlebar with all the lights and control doesn't show any dysfunction.

Switching in between of level of support is noticeable but very shy in the sort and power.

@Nealh I will try to find "multi meter" for checking battery.

But I believe or just I suspect that is something wrong with press pedal sensor - if something like this existing on Aggatu impulse :-/

I'm not familiar with the Agattu so eliminating the obvious first is the way to go, any pedal sensor I assume will be a internal one. Other forumites will be familiar with this model so hopefully will be of more assistance.
