Videos of cycling in Amsterdam often feature in the forum, but this one is a cut above the rest, the quality is superb.

A Dutch family loading up the cargo bikes with the children and riding out to the countryside, for a picnic perhaps.

Camera used: Canon EOS 5D Mark II at 1920x1080

Thanks Blewit that was great, what lovely kids and did you notice all the bikes parked at the side of the roads ? And highland cattle on the track !
When I have aminute I will go back and watch their other episodes....very interesting.
Love those cargo bikes I wonder what they are like to ride......anyone tried one ?

Wonderful, a perfect cycling scene. But just looking at the huge width of those city streets, comparing them with my London area shows how impossible it is for us to have anything like it. Our country lanes are no better, to narrow even for cars, let alone for separate bike paths as well.

We probably need to start with buying lots of bulldozers!

Lovely video and family. I love being in the Netherlands with their so civilized facilities and attitudes to cycling.

The only down side for me is that it reminds me of the general behaviour of children on the continent - I was quite shocked when I came back to the UK after several years living in France and having to get used to the behaviour of British kids (not all, of course!) and the British attitude to cyclists.

Thanks for posting that.

Perhaps done deliberately for comedy value but behind the kids the old enamel sign reads "VERBODEN FIETSEN TE PLAATSEN" (it is forbidden to leave bikes here) :D

that is impressive on many levels, especially as I was sceptical about this new concept of using DSLR's to make moving pictures as well as stills and wanted to see what the footage and colour rendition from one looked like in comparison to the "proper" video cameras with 3 CCD sensors...

The chap who does whatever work on my bike I can't yet do as well owns a bakfiets and rides it through Ipswich now and then, he says its perfectly safe in this town (we don't quite have London's traffic)

During the next few months, we in Britain will be hearing a lot more about 'Shared Space' initiatives, quite how us territorial Brits will receive this remains to be seen. Here in Swindon, the first signs of this new approach are clearly evident.

As mentioned so many times before by flecc, functionallity overides the fashionability of riding a bicycle in the Lowlands of Europe. The clothes they put on in the morning is the clothes they wear when riding their bicycles.............

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THIS VIDEO

Great video, thanks Blew it. Exactly what cycling should be like for the great majority

Just get on and go as you are, no lycra, no shoes that clip to pedals, no goggles or protective gloves, no "sports" drinks or calorie counters, and not a helmet in sight, even on the smallest children.

Just commonsense.

At 08:20 you see a woman in a red sweater. She has 2 baskets on her bike, the one in the back is for transporting a (small) dog :D
