Recently I have had to strip down a couple of Tongxin motors to both repair/clean out the clutch and do some re-wiring.

Its quite tricky but very rewarding when you get one to work again. Anyway I have never gone further than this and have one motor that is very noisy that really needs stripping down further to find out what is causing it. To dismantle the main gearing assembly requires a a special compression ring tool that allows you to remove the ring that holds the roller bearings in place.

I think a couple of forum members from old have these and if they are still around, I wouldn't mind borrowing one. I would be happy to purchase/pay postage each way.

Many thanks in advance.

I don't know whether it helps, but someone said you can get the same effect by clamping the ring in a large vice.

Ah looks like I don't need to remove the ring. should read my old posts as I found this video on one of them

Looks like I can strip it down further without removing the ring though if someone has access to this ring tool it would be nice to know.

Thanks Dave the video shows how the ring works. Seems you need to clamp it at three points to deform it though it might be possible as you says using a vice or maybe a G clamp..
