Thanks

Bike is really sweet at the moment. Chain oiled, all nuts and bolts tightened. Train ticket and bike reservation sorted for tomorrow morning.
Decent weather forecast. Heck of a lot of sharp hills on the lanes for this first leg.
Only thing I worry about is that if the two batteries don't last out for all these steep hills...the bikes so blooming heavy un-powered riding would be almost impossible. Sure that won't happen ...........

Will probably have to wait for tailwind until I start going back NE up the other coast. About 200 miles to go before that!!! :(
Be just my luck if the South Westerlies don't prevail then.

I'm actually really looking forward to the challenge, on behalf of so many friends of people on this forum that I don't know, as well as my late first wife, who have been taken by this awful disease.

I'll certainly do my best. Updates to follow on here and on:

Hi Tony. You go for it my friend and enjoy yourself just think you can stop for a pint or two and something to eat and plug in for an hour and carry on to the next one ??and towards the end of your batteries stop for the night and charge batteries over night perfect!! If I could get there I would join you my friend and best of luck.

Keep bumping this thread, it's really worth it. Better than those professional charity muggers at my door.

LEG 2 ST AUSTELL to FALMOUTH 9 MAY via the Roseland lanes
11.8mph avg. 39.09 miles 2609 feet ascent 3.19 in saddle

Weather dry and mostly sunny. Fresher headwind still than leg 1 but fair bit of shelter in the high banked lanes.
Got to St Mawes for ferry to Falmouth but very choppy, and I know from past experience that you have to put your bike in the bow, which results in a heavy soaking of salt spray when the sea is up. So...biked back up the estuary to cross the river and the King Harry Ferry..and home. This will be the only time I actually bike to home in the entire ride.
Hoping this will be a link to some photos - won't know if it works till I've posted!

Thank you

Yes - I've reached Penzance - and tomorrow, all things being equal, I shall:
Pass the half way mark 5 miles into the ride
Visit Land's End and St Ives
And prepare myself for the final three legs which will involve my panniers and two nights b & b, in the Padstow and Bude areas respectively.
Need a short rest first and three consecutive days with a decent forecast. Been really lucky with the weather so far.

Here are yesterday's and today's links for stats and photos
