Dan I actually started looking at those before I got my Alienocean kit

Thank God I never went down that route.

You see whole bikes on ebay with them fitted being sold off for £80, presumably once they caught/ticked off by the law.

Jerry

i also looked at these, but having a chat to a UK company that sells them.
I haven't heard of anyone who has legally registered one of these. Plus you have the whole MOT thing to sort out and insurance, plus having to wear a helmet to comply with the law.

Thats where i draw the line, i would look too stupid on a pedal bike with a motorbike helmet on.

Far easier to buy a proper scooter for £1k, you know it won't explode or kill you in the process of getting to work.

isn't £80 the cost of the sort of FPN someone would get for riding this without the correct paperwork?

The Terms and conditions say it all. I agree with Psycosis I'd rather have the real thing. Seriously uncool looking contraption with a load of hassle to get it on the road.

yep - you're gonna need CBT/license, helmet etc to be legal and the noise alone will draw attention to it from both civilians and officials alike, so why not just get a moped?

I'm just wondering what the top 5 reasons are for banning electric bikes? Struggling to think of one. I'm assuming the top 5 reasons means they have more than 5.

yes i bought one of those kits and installed it on a bike. i drove it for 3 days mainly off road. it was surprisingly slow compaired to my electric bike. it felt about half the power. i got followed by the police for a few blocks and that spooked me enough to sell it on ebay (for a loss).

also chain drive sucs a$$
