Can someone offer me some guidence to what is probably the simplest of questions ever asked.

I have a electric bike with 20" wheels and am thinking of buying another.

Will a bike with 26/700c wheel have a higher top speed than that of one with 20" I know the gears will play a part but assuming the gear ratio is about the same will the wheel size make a difference. I am referring to pedal assist mode and not just motor they should both be limited to 15mph.

Thanks

The motor manufacturers design different versions od their motors to run at different speeds for different size wheels, so in theory it shouldn't make a difference The speed of the bike depends on the choice of motor, the gearing and the size of the wheels. It's easier to get better climbing ability by using a low speed motor in a small wheel than it is to get high speed by putting a high speed motor in a big wheel, so I'd guess that you could make a general rulee that large wheel bikes are faster than small wheel bikes but don't climb as well assuming similar batteries and controllers.
