Got me a Buzzrack Scorpion,2 bike carrier, 20kg max for each bike, put batteries in the car, travelled all over with no problems. Our bikes weigh 20kg as does the bike rack and the nose weight for my car is 60 kg. so just on the cusp (Hyundai iX 35). It's never failed me one to think about instead of the thule.
Although buying the van makes it all the easier.

Thanks - I did see the Buzzrack models. They're on my list to look at.

We do have a VW T5 Caravelle, but the bulk of the rear is taken up with dog caging so it's tight getting both bikes in (although slightly easier than my Subaru)

It's quite heavy, but just as good as the thule, feels sturdy, sits well, and tilts great with X2 heavy bikes on to get into the boot. Although we tend to use the van more often, especially when hopping off for a specific bike holiday, we also use the car. In a couple of months it'll be the Isle of Skye for a relaxing holiday, but the bikes will be coming to. We'll be using the car as it's a much more comfortable ride up there (Ford Connect 2014 model, my seat is far too hard for a possible 9-12 hour ride).
