Hello, I am hoping someone can help me. I have a battery (TranzX BL15 36v - 11ah 396 wh) that is surplus to requirement.

It is off an EBCO UCR20 ebike that she no longer has.

It also comes with a key to lock it to a suitable pannier rack and a charger. There is also a light built into the rear of it. It charges fully and discharges normally with use.

What is the best way to sell this battery as I have no real way of hooking it up to my Haibike that uses a Bosch battery ?

It's going to be a real problem to send it. Most couriers won't touch them, and those that do require special labelling.

I phoned Evri Customer service they just said they will not insure them so if they lose it then you will not get compensation.

I sent a battery by Royal Mail tracked 48 to Aberdeen from London not realising they put this on an airplane .

It went through X Ray they took it out and destroyed it sent me a letter.

I had to give the lady her £180.00 quid back.

I found her another one sent it to my mate in Glasgow first he then forwarded it to her.

Happy lady is back on the road .

We go the extra mile

YOSE now use DPD they where using FedEx with all the correct labels, with the DPD they are now sending
With a plain box over the original.

Bigger companies seem to be able to make bespoke deals with the couriers to carry new e bike batteries.

For Joe Public it seems to be wrap it very well and take a chance that it does not get lost .

I will deliver it within reasonable distance if I can sell it. Either that or try and get a bike for it and sell it whole.

To be honest even when you send any thing through Royal Mail if they lose it getting compensation is a night mare I am just looking into taking them to the small claims court over 40 quid it’s not the money is the principle That they have been negligent with my goods that I paid extra to have delivered tracked 48 .

Tracking says it never left the post office so some one nicked it .

The next place is Greenford Mail Centre I worked there for 3 years no scans in or out .

If you get a buyer far away just take a chance and send it as a power pack.

I advertised power packs on e bay sold Two new ones now with in a day or Two I have copy cats

Most of us are guilty of that if we see a good idear

The Royal Mail and some other couriers class lithium batteries as dangerous goods and they won't touch them. They don't open the box to see what's inside, and generally don't x-ray them. I know people, who sent batteries as bicycle spares and descriptions like that; however, if the battery got crushed or thrown, or it developed a fault that set it off, you'd be in deep trouble.

You could always advertise it 'Pick Up Only' or 'Meet Halfway' if it's not too far of course, Aberdeen would be a bit of a stretch.

Yes crushed would be a problem I sent an inverter the other day steel they managed to bend it .
When I worked at the mail center Greenford over Covid though they were very good compared to other companies in the way mail is handled .

Shame they just don’t mark the box saying there are batteries inside like they used to and charge a bit more .
I would think any item with Lithium Iron Batteries could get crushed and catch fire ie a lap top phone power tools I can not see it would make any difference if they are connected or not .

And they could set fire to all the other illicit products sent by post like , Vapes full of synthetic drugs , counterfeit booze that harms people’s livers , ECT . but then a lot of the other products that are very combustible would also burn

When I was delivering the post to the sorting offices out of the main mail center,I always thought about what may be hidden in the mail and what might happen if I was involved in a collision.
