also the servicing issue of buying a bike from a non-local dealer appears to be flattened out. sounds like i could order, say, a kalkhoff through the post and be much more likely to keep it working smoothly without specialist assistance.
As much as servicing, I meant the reassurance that if you had a warranty claim, the bike could be taken into the dealer without lengthy arrangements to be made transporting the machine on a 300 mile return ride.

It's not a deal breaker but with something 'novel' like an e-bike it would give peace of mind that your £2000 odd outlay was guaranteed locally where you could speak in person to the dealer or his/ her staff.
