I have been trying to build an electric bike with my beach cruiser starting with a 5A 22v turnigy 24v battery and a shady chinese controller. Needless to say I got scared off when I got the "magic smoke" with my controller (probably my fault) when I hooked the motor and battery on to test it. I am very short on money so have been unable to get another controller but would like to maintain my battery. I have just let it sit for 3 months or so so I thought I should check. It was 3.84 on all but one cell which was 3.83 think I don't remember. I didn't really want to charge as I have read LIPOs should not be stored fully charged. I hooked + and- and balance leads and tried the accucell set on storage for a 6s lipo. The manual said it would equalize everything at 3.85. It just went down and when the lowest cell reached 3.80 flashing 3.79 I unhooked it in alarm. Either it was trying to equalize at 3.7v and not going down very evenly (much worse than when I started) or its just defective or more likely I'm not understanding. Can one of you bikers who has had many batteries and charge cycles who has used one of these accucells help me? I paid $50 for the battery and hate to screw it up.
Thanks,
Larry
