Tyre question

I have a oxygen city -mate the tyres need replaced they are 26x1.95 the one,s i want to put on is schwalbe fat frank tyre 26 x 2.35 but i need to know if they will fit. I ask in 3 bike shop and all 3 gave me different answers so some help needed please.

They'll fit the rims ok, but have you got 2.35" plus a bit to spare between the forks and rear frames at tyre level. It looks as though you have, if so, that much will be ok.

The mudguards look as though they will give just enough clearance despite hugging the wheels fairly tightly, but it's just possible you'll have to rig or modify the mudguard stays to give a bit more clearance.

The rim size is usually the same but then the tyre takes a rounded shape going from almost like a D with 1.75 to a O with 2.6. If you can picture it most hybrids tend to have a slick pattern 1.95 and most mountain bikes a nobby 2.25. Is rare but sometimes brake arms can also get in the way.

They look like cool tyres might get them when I next renew.
