I got michelin tyres with protek plus puncture protection and although I've been happy with them they just don't have the grip in these frosty/icy conditions- though it's not been too bad yet I've already felt grip going on the (motorised) front wheel 3 times. There not as good as the OE powabyke raleigh tyre. So I really ought to get something for winter that will help avoid road rash. I think I'd prefer kevlar banded but grip is far more important- they seem to stiffen the tyres so might be working against grip in these conditions. I've also seen studded tyres but have never tried them, and no-one I've asked has but seem strangely averse to the idea without any real reason.
