Why don't you do a proper full review of the DaaHub?
Personally, it makes me very suspicious about how it is when you've had it for so long and never really told us about it other than to drop a few superficial anecdotes.
How well do those brake switches work?
How many amps does it pull from the battery?
How much noise does it make when climbing:
How fast does it go and is it easy to adjust top speed?
Does that split pedal sensor stay in place or did you have to bodge it?
Were there any other problems?
I know that David hinted that things were not all that they should be, but why are you keeping it a secret?
Come on: Spill the beans!
Simply no time, as since we returned from summer trip have been up to our ears in our aborted house move, and as we are staying put now have been living in a building site these last few months. Consequently not much bike riding, little exercise, very bad back and weight going back up.....
Hopefully will be straight by Christmas and back into my regime soon after. and technically I have not a clue as I only ride and enjoy the things, not to interested in anything else to be honest. better if you ride it and report as you know what you are talking about

"How well do those brake switches work?"

Fine never had any trouble with them.

"How many amps does it pull from the battery?"

Not a clue, have had 3 different controllers, some more then others I guess

"How much noise does it make when climbing"

Nothing excessive, I haven’t really noticed much difference to be honest

"How fast does it go and is it easy to adjust top speed"

Like any Wisper I have had, derestricting just a matter of removing link in controller.

"Does that split pedal sensor stay in place or did you have to bodge it"

Has never moved touch wood, I did not fit kit

"I know that David hinted that things were not all that they should be, but why are you keeping it a secret? Come on: Spill the beans!"

No secrets just not using it much, once or twice a week tops.

At first the bike was very keen and powerful easy 20-23 mph but just before going away on holiday it started cutting out momentarily and you would have to reset, but as very easy to ride unassisted this was no problem........

Norman had a look and changed something, it would still cut out but now reset automatically. It was like this for the 4.5 week trip to Croatia and was not much of a problem, you would expect this to happen maybe when hill climbing but it would happen when going at full tilt on the flat as well so I don’t know...This did not stop my enjoyment of the bike.

On our return Norman fitted another controller and this was horrible, very lacklustre performance and slow to pick up...not good at all.

Then Norman fitted latest one which has tamed the beast slightly (21 mph) but solved the cutting out. So bike now fine. I’m not sure why Wisper decided to delay but I think good kits fitted to top class bikes are probably the best way to achieve E bike nirvana. But then you have something like the Bosch and I like both and would not like to be without either (for too long) But the DaaHub is lightest best handling e bike I have every ridden..It will do me for the forseeable future.

Anyone is welcome to try mine or David has a couple that I am sure he would be happy to demo....

Wisper not alone in this delay, seems to apply to all new kits for some reason. I'm not to sure whats going on but must be tied to economic situation with supply/design problems or whatever.....

Thanks Eddie,

Yes we did have some errors with the controller, we are running 18A through it and the motor was reading that as an overload problem. The second controller we fitted to Eddies bikes had a "soft start" programe fitted which was unfortunately too "soft" and reduced the bikes performance too much, back to the drawing board! The third controller we fitted still has the soft start but it now a bit "harder" and performs as well as the original but does not cut out.

We took the product off the shelves because of the above issues, the kit is not cheap and we certainly do not want to launch a product that is not perfect. Others are having similar difficulties even those who are simply buying and rebranding components. There are only two really original and new kits coming to the market as far as I know in the UK at the moment, the DaaHub and the long awaited Cytronex both are late but I am sure both will be very well received when they arrive all perfect and gleaming later in 2012!

Thanks again Eddie for all your help in tweaking DaaHub, as soon as we have the new kit in stock we will be delighted to swap yours for the final market version.

Some exciting news! We have just taken delivery of the first 30/40mph DaaHub Extreem samples! We will be testing them in the new year and hope to have it on the market in the summer of 2013. It is absolutely ilegal on the public roads and is only for use on tracks etc targeted for mountain bike riders. The motor is anodised red and we have had to engrave NOT LEGAL FOR ROAD USE on the case! Not for the faint hearted!

Best regards

David
