It may seem strange putting a posting on Eurobike 2013 when the 2012 show has only just finished. But,such is the popularity of this show and the scarcity of hotel beds in that area that I am advising pedelec members who intended to visit next year to book hotel now, many of the hotel in Friedrichshaven are already fully booked.
This part of Germany is truly beautiful the lakeside and countryside around Ravensburg is very attractive, the towns of Konstanz,Lindau and Meersburg are especially interesting-it is a nice place to go for a holiday as well as visiting the show. Previously I have flown to Memmingen(Ryanair) but may try Zurich next year (Easyjet).
The show is a haven for technocrats and the e-bike technology is moving very fast. To do a proper visit does take 3 days minimum, there is a lot to see. Sports bike enthusiasts cannot possibly view everything even in the 4 days.
Do not, repeat do not go towards Friedrichshaven at any time, the traffic is horendous, keep north of the show towards Markdorf, otherwise you will sit in hours of traffic. The ferry from Meersburg to Konstanz is a joy to use, with typical german efficiency, costs 8 euros per car and allows the possibility of staying on the Swiss side of the lake (but Konstanz is still in Germany). I had the amusement of staying in a hotel in Konstanz right on the swiss border, walk 10 metres and I crossed the border.
Any questions I will gladly try to answer.
