I leave my bike in our utillity room,we are about to re decorate the room, any ideas on what can be put on the wall to protect it from my handle bars,i really do not want to mark freshly painted surfaces with my handlebars,is there any stick on or drill to the wall stuff that looks good and will protect the wall.

I'm going to collect some of these from the post office in the morning(ebay £5 each ordered friday). Take up less space and won't mark the walls anymore unless we go pushing wet tyre tracks up them lol

Hi Clockwise and Geebee,

Where did you find these items please and what are they called, not seen either of them before?

Regards,

I'd be inclined to either fasten a sacrificial panel of chipboard, mdf, plywood, fibreboard, etc to the wall to take the brunt of the inevitable dunts.
Or... hang a heavy curtain or army blanket on the wall, for that totally casual look that's just scrumptious this season, dahlink.

I just searched on eBay and amazon for bike wall hook/mount. If you can wait till 8pm or so I can take some pics of what has come and links to a few types of storage. If you have concrete walls then you will need a beefy drill.

My searches generally found 4 common types of storage.

Ceiling pulleys - a hook for handle bars and another for the seat then pulleys on the ceiling and you pull it up
Wall hooks/mounts - like what I put usually the front wheel hooks on and the bike hangs down
Floor/wall racks/loops - like what geebee posted they are either on the floor or screw to the wall
Bike shelves - usually 2 poles that support the top bar of a frame, common sight in bike shops.

Those floor stands are also known as wheel benders because the wheel is not designed to take the sideways twisting force they can impart.

Probably OK if used carefully, but I would find a different solution.

piece of cleear perspex - costs about a tenner from b&q for about 2'x5'

drill slightly bigger holes in the perspex, and hang it on screws and washers.....you can also put pictures behind it or whatever you like.

easy to fit/remove and looks just like the wall.
