Finding my (electric) wheels

Hello all and thanks for a great site.
I run Gotwind.org the renewable energy resource + a forum not too disimilar to this in the U.K.

I am hunting for a bicycle hub motor, hopefully secondhand for a pedal generator project. They appear quite expensive for experimenting with.
Any advice on outputs for such a purpose would be appreciated :)

For my purposes the motor does not require to be mounted in a wheel, it can even be damaged, as long as the motor (generator) works.
I intend rectifying the 3 phase output to DC and charge a 12v battery.

What it requires to be:

A rear wheel preferably with a multi-sprocket attached.
36 or 48 volts?
Non geared type i.e direct drive, these are usually larger in diameter and slimmer than the internally geared models, as I'm sure you are all aware.

Paypal money waiting for sensible offers.
I'm UK based.

Thankyou, and good luck with the forum.

Ben.

Not what you want but..

Ben,
I am in the process of building a new bike and will shortly have a powabyke which due to its age I will likely be breaking for spares.

It is a front geared hub motor (everything you haven't asked for) not sure if it would be any good or not but it does work!

Let me know if interested.
(or anyone else for the bike or bits)

thanks
Daryl.

I have a direct drive Cohnis motor and controller that I don't think I'll use again but it was part of a 24v kit. I actually ran it over that and I believe it would run at 36v. It is a rear wheel fit and has a 5 speed freewheel attached built into a 700c wheel.

Tried posting in technical but to no avail.

Just wondering if there is an internal geared rear hub motor available?
i.e Shimano style 6 speed gearing within the hub itself rather than a 6 speed external 'cassette' style gearing.

Any help appreciated.

Ben.
