I bought this from ebay for about £6 or so and I find it really useful and would recommend it!
I think it comes in different sizes to suit different phones (mines a Galaxy s4 and fits snuggly in with the whole phone showing in the plastic window) I can tap the display through the plastic at a push, but if you want a map or app that shows where you are its ideal and it comes in different colours if your bothered. It has 2 zips that close to the front leaving a gap for cable access ( I have the cree light battery in there, usually my keys and small "coffee/beer" change in case I forget to pick up my wallet. There is access at the rear for a phone cable, but it didn't work for me so I made a hole at the rear of the window to feed the phone cable back in to the phone. The phone is in a separate velcroed compartment so cant fall out even when both zips are open!
It keeps your phone safer and drier than any pocket or anything that can clip to the bars... It has 2 velcro straps to go under the crossbar and one to wrap around the stem.

My only question is as i cycle commute come hell or high water. And Living on the coast by a river estuary it often does !

Is it proper, proper waterproof ? I don't mean go swimming waterproof but a hour of solid stair rods

Any experience?

Phil thanks for your answer and pics, I'll get one of those. At that price it's a no brainer

I have been using a Kyocera Torque phone for a few weeks which claims to be an adventure phone which is tough and water resistant. So far so good and have been quite impressed. An expensive option but worth considering if your phone is coming up for replacement anyway and avoids the need for a waterproof case or plastic bag.

Is it a smart phone? Only these days everything appears to rely on a smart phone, not that I have or want one of the dam things.

Lidl and aldi do them when they do the bike week stuff.
I have one on my bike, you can still use the phone when in the case.
It was about £6.00, I'm not sure when they have bike stuff back in store.
