Please forgive me if this has come up many times before but I couldn't seem to find quite the answer I was looking for.

I know that under the EAPC there is a limit of 40kg (bikes) and 60kg (trikes) but have not been able to find out whether there is a similar cap to the weight of a Pedelec.

Any opinions?

I believe from memory of seeing something about this previously that the EU weight limit for pedelecs is also 40 kg, but they have no weight limit on trikes.

I can't remember the source though, and like you, cannot find an online reference.

Thanks, I am becoming quite intrigued by one of these:

Not available commercially but a nice idea that might come to fruition.

The pedelec category certainly allows 4 wheels but the weight is likely to go over 60Kg and I would like a 250w assist to replace the missing person when riding solo. I would like to keep it scrupulously legal.

I imagine that the 250w limit may be deemed sufficient in itself since it gets more and more difficult to imagine any kind of useful vehicle as weight rise to exaggerated levels

A large number of quadricycles have been available commercially for years, and most exceed the weight limits so cannot be e-powered legally for road use.

The best known in Britain are the Brox machines made by Rob Brock's company, and you'll see them in this website list of the many quad bikes/trikes that can be bought:
