Hi Tim,

The bike used on the bulk of the world tour was a bog standard 906Alpino indeed two of them were used from Ho Chi Minh City when Guim married Thuy Ahn. The only change was to add a well used Brookes saddle. The Alpinos were first generation and not as powerful as our latest machines, in fact there have been many refinements and changes including the higher capacity battery since the bikes we sent out.

All our racks are certified to carry 25KG as a part of EN15194 and because the battery is low in the frame and does not effect the carrying capacity of the rack, 25KG will be perfectly safe.

HOWEVER....... As those with rack mounted batteries will know, carrying additional weight on the rear rack will make a difference to the stability of the bike and if you do load to 25KG the handling of the bike will be markedly effected for the worse.

Just a quick note on the world tour, it has come to a grinding halt due to the arrival of Lola a beautiful baby girl. Mother and baby are doing well! Guim assures me that as soon as Lola is old enough to sit comfortably in a child seat the tour will be resumed!

Here are a couple of videos showing the way the Wisper Alpinos were loaded including the trailer complete with solar powered battery charger!

If you have time, search electric bike world tour in You Tube there are some great videos of the event.

Best regards
