What to do with expired batteries?

I think Wisper recover them and may even give a discount on new batteries for an old one.

There is cobalt, copper, nickel and iron in the lithium-ion batteries (but not lithium!) - they don't provide as much recoverable metal as other kinds but they do have some recycling value.

Hi Alex

Yes we give a £50.00 discount off a new battery when we receive the old battery.

We collect them for 12 months and our battery manufacturer collects them FOC from us for recycling, we don't get paid for the old batteries but try to be responsible in their collection and disposal.

Best regards David

That's really good to hear David, nice to hear a company take such a responsible stance. Although hopefully it'll be a few years until I have to get a new one :)

Technically, the new regulations mean that companies should provide a way to recycle/retrieve them for free, same with white household and electrical goods suppliers.
