Hi all,

I am completely new to the world of electric bikes and am trying to weigh up my best option.

I would like an electric bike for leisure use. I already have a good bike - a Giant Rapid 3 (hybrid road bike) - which is only a couple of years old. I use it a bit but only for rides of about 10-15 miles and would like to extend my range.

I am unsure whether I would be better off buying a conversion kit or if I should really be buying an electric bike. Ideally, I would convert my existing bike but I don't know if it is suitable as it only has 27mm tyres.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

If it were me, I'd consider fitting a kit to your existing bike. Cumbria has big hills, I'm not sure which kit would be best for those. Or which tyres? Others will have more experience on that. You could easily double your current range with a good kit and battery.

Nice bike.

You can keep as is with a mid-motor conversion. With a hub kit I would mount bigger tyres, you have 3 extra kgs in the hub.
