Hi,

Anybody know how I can source a Suzhou Bafang motor? I'm looking for the motor only - specifically a high power (250w 36v) low geared version for hill climbing. It's to go in a 26" rear wheel and I would be looking for low gearing for the hills, rather than speed on the flat. Ideally I think 175 /185 rpm sounds about right. I don't seem to be able to find anyone who can sell a motor on its own, just a complete kit (and even then a little uncertain of the actual motor spec.).

I've got spares but they are 115mm wide version, for front fitting. I find this gives you better gearing options.
I think they used to call them Hill Kings, in a 26" wheel it is geared for around 16mph road speed at 36v. I currently use a 20" geared motor in a 700 rim. It pulls me and my two boys, (in a U Plus Two), up some decent hills, in and around Kinver. Today it took us into Kidderminster for their rugby.
You would need to stretch the forks to fit it, OK if you have no suspension.
I have tried one at 48V but you really need torque bars on them to stop them ripping themselves out of the forks.
I have both 20" and 26" motors in 20" rims and a 26" motor in a 26"rim.
If your desperate for the rear wheel motor try Wisper or Urban Mover, just ask them if they have spares.
