Which replacement Kalkhoff Battery?

Im looking to upgrade my 8ah kalkhoff battery.
Im wanting a better battery.
Whats my best options weighing up £ for range balance.

id like a 40mile there and back total range for my money if possible.

I have just looked and you can get one for about 410 Euro + postage which is about what you would pay for a discounted 8Ah from the UK.

I've seen no formal reviews of the BMZ-Kalkhoff batteries, but members seem happy with them and the 18 Ah will give plenty of range. Kalkhoff confidently claim 1100 charge life, but even if that fell short by about 30%, it would be far better than the industry average. They haven't been around long enough for anyone to have reached end of life in a real world use.

Hi Rob, The range per charge differs greatly between riders, so It's difficult to suggest which size battery you will need.

Below is a link to a review of the BMZ 18 ah battery by member 10mph. I also posted my own experiences with the BMZ battery. I will post a link to that when find it.

My first thoughts are the BMZ 18 ah battery would only just make it on a 40 mile trip...and only for the first two years of its life. Also to note, on very cold days the capacity is reduced somewhat. General consensus suggests a useful range of around 40-45 miles.

You will definitly get more then 40 miles. My bike is an Agattu S (see sprocket change etc). I have recently covered almost 37 miles on a hilly route with gradients between 15-20% useing lowest to highest power. This included 2579 ft of climbing.

I reckon i could get another 20 miles min from the remaining battery life.

In standard form your bike should exceed this.


If you want there is also a 25a battery available.

Just rechecked the data and it hit 21% gradient at one point
