WISPER 905SE CITY 1 YEAR 7,248 miles later

Well its been a while since i last did a review but as i,ve now been cycling just over 1 year I thought it might be time.

Had the Wisper from new and I absolutely love this bike.

With the exception of Brake Pads and Tyres and a general service nothing has gone wrong with this bike in 12 months.

I have two of the new type chargers and both are very reliable.

The battery still performs as good today as when I first got the bike.

The bike is very sound and as long as you look after it and do the general maintenance it is totally reliable.

Modifications I made were adding a decent Rido2 seat which for long distance is out of this world,new grips for comfort and so that they can hold the throttle open and really decent Schwalbe tyres.

Still loving the bike after a year and have no intention of going back to owning a car.

Physically it has brought me down from 16 1/2 stone to 14 stone and my fitness levels are the best they have been for 10 years. (38yo)

I cannot recomend this bike highly enough to anyone thinking about having one.

Jeez, youve done as many miles on your bike as I have in my car over the last 12 months! 150 miles per week, thats some going !

Was doing 50 per day but have now moved premises so only 30 per day now.

Great fun on the bike though and a good way to unwind.

Crumbs! I, too, was thinking you'd put some miles in on your beastie in a short time. Thought I was going good at nearly 4,000 miles in 18 months but you've knocked me into a cocked hat

Did you have to change out you front wheel at any point? I had to replace mine at about 3,500 miles. The brake surface had worn to the point that the wear indicator was gone and it had a very concave surface. Felt bendy when pressed so I changed it. Had a front rim split on me in the past (not Wisper) and didn't fancy a repeat performance on my Wisper. Frightened me to death it did when it went

It's good to hear about the high miler real-world commuting examples, would it be possible to post up the costs that have you have incurred over the period of time you've been using the bike ie depreciation, tyres, tubes, brakes, replacement parts etc etc?

Great review, that's some serious mileage and a real road test!

I am thinking about similar mods to you - ie fitting some Schwalbe tyres and a slimmer/lighter saddle

Will post full costings when I have worked them out and no have never replaced front rim and it is still in very good nick as groove line is fine and no concave surface. I do use Zipp Carbon brake pads though and whilst not cheep they are excellent at stopping and cause very little wear and I have found on the heavy electric bike this is a must.

Hi, and great report. is there a particular size of zipp carbon pads that I need to buy for my 905 City?

Hi Eddieo - Have just spoken to the chaps from the cycle shop who look after my bikes and the Zipp pads are used on my racer which has carbon rims!!! They use Swissstop pads on the Wisper! Shows how much attention i pay. If you want any further info let me know?
