My Wisper panniers and front handlebar bag arrived today and here is a review.

I unpacked the handlebar bag first and was impressed with the quality. At first I didn't think it was going to be very waterproof with it's fold-over top and clasp. But inside I found... a rain protector that was orangy/yellow. Well cool. I can have my bag in there without having it hanging down my back trying to strangle me. There is a rather neat plastic mounting plate on the back of the front bag and this mates with another plastic plate. The two lock together and are released by the press of a button.

That's not all. The plate that attaches to the bike's handles bars has a mechanism that presses against the steering down tube and can be tightened to prevent the front bag from rotating downward. That's smart that is!

There's the cavernous(ish) main bag and side pockets. Plenty of places to stick things.

The panniers are of similar quality and also come with a rain coat that can be put over the panniers when it rains. That is a really nice touch and so thoughtful.

There's plenty of pockets for things and a huge top bag that goes across the rack. The whole thing is designed to drop on to the existing rack and has sturdy plastic clasps to hook over the top bars of the rack and a swing round lock mechanism at the lower parts to firmly lock the panniers to the rack.

Just spotted that if you undo the lefthand zip and the righthand zip all the way you can split the zips (like on your coat zip) and completely remove the top section leaving the rest of the panniers in place. How cool is that!

I am very pleased with these items and can easily recommend them.

Best regards.

Vikki.

PS. Typos are free of charge

Mine slipped by 90 degrees today but that may have had something to do with the suicidal dog that jumped under my wheels this morning. In keeping with the thread the Wisper panniers don't really like sliding down the road, there is an extra slim pocket on the outside of them that I think I may slide some armour inside as protection in the event of a bigger accident.
Amazingly I landed and stayed on my feet, quite an achievement in cycling shoes and the first time I've not injured myself in a crash. :)

Edit: I'm pleased with the panniers too, I've not seen any 3 piece panniers that match up to the quality. They are pretty waterproof without the extra rain covers and the contents stay dry even when I arrive at work soaked.

That's good to know, just use the rain cover on the front bag then :D The back ones are huge, you could shelter in there ;)

What happened to the dog?

Glad the panniers are getting good reviews.

Suicidal dog reminds me of a little terrier a few months ago that ran across a path a few inches in front of my front wheel, then turned round and ran back, just in front of my wife who was following right behind. It was nearly killed twice within half a second!

Hi eddieo

I had a problem with my 905se Sport soon after buying it, where the handlebar locking mechanism was broken:

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/wisper-bikes-clinic/2704-handlebar-locking-mechanism-broken.html

ETS London sent me a new handlebar stem which solved the problem. I think that the whole handlebar adjustment mechanism is a bit over the top and prone to failure on the 905se, and I've decided that if it breaks again I will just get a standard handlebar stem.

Apologies if this isn't the same as the problem you're having, but it sounded familiar...

Cheers,

Howard

The dog seemed OK but startled, he was walking and I was quite suprised. I had a brief exchange of opinion with the owner and rode off, I think he was shouting at me to stop and apologise to the dog.
I checked the Royal parks dog leaflet and saw that dog owners have a legal requirement to keep their dogs under control, so I was in the right. :p

I was thinking of movement in the other plane but now I suspect you have the right one. I had this trouble briefly when I changed the angle of the stem, I found that I needed to adjust the tension bolt differently depending on the angle. I fear that once it is allowed to move then the teeth will quickly grind off and then it has to be replaced, fortunately I got there in time to prevent this and just did it up very tightly.

Bolt!? Where's that? I'd like to tighten mine ASAP. BTW I like the new seat, much smarter than the Wisper one.

Oh, the stem fixing bolt. I was thinking there was another one that tightened the quick release.
There is, look behind the stem and you'll see a nurled nut, when the QR is open you can tighten it by hand. If you can't close the QR then it's too tight.

The Wisper seat did well for many miles but I think I've outgrown the comfort seats, it was restricting my leg movements so I decided to try more of a blokes saddle. It's going to take some getting used to but it's less restrictive so makes the pain worth it.
That saddle isn't a great one, it's got gel padding which will start bugging me soon and I'll swap it again for a more focussed saddle. It was free from my parents garage so I'm not moaning. :)
