You might find that after you'd had it for a week it would have grown too big for you.....I need a frame and I'd love one of those but I'm not sure how it would cope in our damp climate.
That's quite a markup but if they stick a fairtrade label on it then people won't question the high price.Yeah I wonder if they're using the same frames being built in Africa for £290.

I think two sets of bikes are being confused here.They're 'built by hand' in North America according to the web write up, and there is absolutely no reason to think that any part of the construction is even remotely connected with Africa. I expect that the idea of a bamboo frame would be rather hard to patent, and bamboo is available from a great many parts of the world (South America, for a start).
I think they're grossly over-priced as being of some novelty value - but if the engineering turns out to be sound I'm sure the price will drop like a stone as construction requires limited engineering facilities, and so is well suited to local production in poor countries.
