woosh/kudos tcm vs bpm against standard 8fun hub query

hello all have vita uno 36v rear hub 250w but it I struggle on short steep hills, (battery is past its best voltage sag etc)
was considering a new bike but not sure if I would gain anything at all
what I would like advice on if my vita had tcm crank drive or 250w bpm legal rear hub moter what would be the difference compared to normal 8 fun.
I have not ridden any other ebikes so have no comparison.

the weather has been so dismal its hard to even get out of late

Foot pump,the SWX type motor that you have in your Vita Uno,which by the way is the same as fitted to 90% of Chinese imports,requires you to turn the motor at minimum 8mph before you start hitting the ideal motor torque.
If you are riding up hills slowly,which would be most evident on short steep gradients,then the BPM motor is wound in such a way as to start giving ideal motor torque at 4 mph.
As you go faster the difference between the motors is less evident.
You should go try a Kudos Tornado or Arriba on a steep hill,you will notice the difference at low speed,immediately.
Also,I have a feeling that you are often riding your Vita Uno at low speed,the motor is always below its ideal operating speed,that would put a lot of strain on the battery and motor,with a very low range expectation.

woosh use 7 motors. 3 CD motors and 4 geared hub motors.

woosh use Bafang SWX (120mm core) in the Gallego, Gale, Petite and Karoo. Recommended for riders up to 13st.
The next size up is the crank motors in the Bali, Krieger, Santana CD and zephyr-CD. Recommended for riders up to 15st.
The next size up is Bafang SWX02 (140mm core) in the Santana2 and the Bermuda. Recommended for riders up to 17st.
For heavier riders, Bafang BPM (160mm core) in the Big Bear, Big Bear LS and Zephyr-B. Recommended for riders over 17st.

thanks kd/trex can see what you mean re tornado low end torque.
but you both sell bikes with tcm moter , how does the tcm compare to bpm?

all the more expensive ebikes I have seen on the internet around £1600 and above seem to be crank drives of some sort yam/bosch/panasonic

the TCM and GSM crank drive motors in the woosh bikes are not as refined as the Panasonic or the Bosch in more expensive bikes. To start, they have simple rotational pedal sensor, not torque sensor in the more expensive bikes. The consequence of that is run off when you stop pedaling and slower start. With a torque sensor, it's instantaneous start at the push off. With the woosh bikes, you use the throttle for instantaneous start. Pedelec start is a quarter turn of the cranks. Secondly, they have single stage gear reduction, not as refined as the Bosch and Yamaha which have two stages,
Other than that, the TCM is the higher 20 Amp model and the GSM is 18A model, both deliver about the same torque as the Yamaha or Bosch CX. The large BPM is more torquey at above 8mph and less torquey at below 4mph.

That quarter turn is controller dependent. My GSM is instant i.e. les than 1/8th of a turn, more like 1/16th. I am using the 09 bottle battery external controller (which has its own issues...).

Run on when I stop pedaling isn't so evident as the motor kicking in at the slightest pedal movement. But you definitely need some kind of cut off switch at the lights.
