AS mentioned, only a fraction of a mph faster than Sam Whittingham's record, also 83 mph. Sam has in several previous years done 82/83 mph runs but never been able to gain on that, perhaps a natural limit for a combination of reasons. It isn't clear whether this new run was in the Battle Mountain world championship or even on the same road, so if not, it might not be ratified as a new record.

I wonder if some of the bigger corperations got involved if the times would come down? a lot of the teams run on a shoe string budgets.
