Lights relay / reducer
Good morning all, my bikes lights have stopped working and I suspect this little box as the problem, ideally I like to replace it with the same but not sure what is or where to get a replacement? As the light says 24-48v I presume it's just a relay thingy rather than a voltage dropper. Any help would be gratefully received-thankyou Mark

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Hi...again, well it lasted for a while before problems started again. I now have an intermittent fault that the display says is hall sensor. I guess that the whole wiring will need to be gone through to possibly find a bad wire some where, although before I begin that horrible job I thought I would just ask if my symptoms would direct me closer to the possible problem. As mentioned it comes and goes, on a 1 mile journey the motor cuts in and out say a dozen times, sometimes making the grating noise although not all the time. I checked the voltage on the 3 hall sensor wires whilst turning the wheel slowly backwards. Unlike before where 2 of the sensors would go from no voltage to 5v steadily rising and falling as the wheel is turned and the 3rd sensor voltage didn't change. Now I have varying voltage from all 3 sensor wires but the slightest movement of the wheel will cause to voltage to go up and down from/to 5v to zero. The transition of the voltage going steadily up and down through a third of a turn of the wheel has gone, by moving the wheel literally a few degrees and the volts go up and down without being a smooth in/decrease. Just wondering if the new symptom should point me into a certain area of what maybe the problem ? Thanks in advance Mark

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Success... Well with help from forum members-Thank-you, It is back on the road. I got the replacement hall sensors (cheers Steve) although I didn't feel confident enough to do the micro surgery soldering. Whilst it took a couple if weeks to find someone who could and eventually did-it was worth the wait, in fact having to go back to a normal pedal bike for a while was enjoyable, once I could power through the leg burn. Well at least I can move onto the next problem of lights not working but that's for another thread. Well chuffed if not annoyed that a 2 Bob bit the size of a match head was the cause of alot of grief. At least I've learnt that to take the motor apart is only a few clips and washers, in future it should only take minutes not weeks to take it apart. Happy pedelecs to all

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Thank-you for the in depth reply, I'm building with confidence already. I was hoping to just cut and re solder the wires under the heat shrink rather than disturb the wires under the string or more importantly to me, desolder off the board. I don't have nor never used a desolder pump, my learn for the day !

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Thanks for that. I've just ordered some and now building up to take it apart again and have a go. I did try continuity testing from plug to sensors bit it gave me unexpected results so gave up on that idea. I hope it's a sensor and not a controller, it wouldn't be so bad if I could just buy of the shelf like for like, I guess that's my fault for buying this bike with my heart and not my head. Live and learn they say....mmmmm. So you back on the road now ? Sounds like a pain in the backside.

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Well it didn't go too well. I managed to get down to the nitty gritty of the motor but when I got there I came to the conclusion that my fingers were to big and my eyes too old to try to replace the hall sensor. So I put it back together after giving it abit of a clean and grease. Well it's still broke, but no worse for taking it apart. So now I decided to get a new hall sensor (or 3 ) and fit um. Well that's easier said than done as I can't get exactly the same numbers sensor. So really my questions are please... My hall sensor is 41F 402, I can get 41F but they don't have 402..... but 518, what is the difference in the 3 digits ? Does anyone do a hall sensor check/replace service or ideally to refurbish or replace what appears to be a copy of a XOFO motor ? Thanking you in fingers crossed hope Mark

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Sound like a right headache but unlike me it also sounds like ya know what your doing. I've taken planet gears off and key out, there is another keyed sprocket behind it Haven't quite built up the courage to pull the last bit that side to expose the hall sensors. Then I'm guessing the other side cover just pulls off. So annoying not having any instructions to follow. Do you know what's involved in using a hall less controller ?

Chinese Hall sensor problem
With a tip of the hat-Thankyou. I hope you can continue to lead me down this dark alley.. Grease. Will do thank-you. I managed to find a puller, in the loft...last box as usual, I knew I'd got one somewhere. I guess to remove the planet gears... I've removed the circlip and 3 bronze washers and then you just pull the planet gears off, looks like a key in there. Then to remove the rhs you just use the puller ?

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Yes definitely damp in there, a couple of the bolts were probably only held in by the oxidisation, I shall put a sliver of grease or silicone when I put the outer cover back on. A bit of grease still remains around but not on the gears. When /if I fix/rebuild it-what grease should I use , I was hoping car cv (graphite) grease would be ok ? Tonight's installment was to remove the sprocket carrier, so after struggling with a pair of stilsons for an hour I took it to my local bike shop to get a removal tool. He didn't have 1 to sell but had 1 that unexpectedly fitted and got it off in about 20 seconds, we then chatted for an hour plus, putting the world to rights. I'll hopefully get out to the workshop later but think I'll have to source a puller tomorrow to get the planet gears off. Thanks for now Mark

Chinese Hall sensor problem
I removed the sprocket and bearings although not sure if that was necessary at that stage. Undone 6 screws for hub and gave a few taps with hammer and wood, no movement so I left it overnight to soak in. Went and gave it a few taps this morning and hey presto Do I need to remove the sprocket carrier to further dismantle and get to the wiring side of things ? Any help you can offer is gratefully received. Thanking you in anticipation Mark

Chinese Hall sensor problem
I managed to take the wheel out and the six screws undone, the plate is still tight but it looks like I need to remove the sprocket set to get at the spindle nut. The sprocket is a shimano mc but I don't have a tool to remove them. I did undo the ring on the sprocket but did it back up before I had a bench full of ball bearings. Not so happy tonight.

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Just back in from the workshop, just crossed wires to confirm the controller is ok-more useful snippets from someone with a similar problem to me on this site. So it looks like the next 5 minutes I get I'll be taking the wheel out for a look. Having just been looking at the wheel there seems some oxidisation build up around the screws and joint......let the fun begin Thank-you for your advice so far, I'm getting happier by the minute.

Quicker and less skill....sounds up my street, depends on the cost ?

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Thank-you for your quick reply. I've just gone back out to the workshop to change the green and blue wires over, just to be sure it's the sensor and not a controller issue. The hub is held with 6 screws on the rhs

Chinese Hall sensor problem
Hi all, please excuse my short to the point points. I typed my essay style info / request before tea hoping to continue it after, unfortunately my 7yr old daughter doesn't know what open a new tab means and lost the lot. So in short I have a Chinese bike called Crane. The motor has got noisy at slow speed which quietens down as you build up speed, the throttle doesn't work from stand still and the King meter has error 24, hall sensor. The hall sensor with the yellow wire has a constant voltage of .42 whilst green and blue wires go from .42 to over 4v as you turn the wheel, measured at the block connecter by the speed controller. I now need to take the motor apart but with no make on the hub motor, just a number of XF1410VW1086, finding instructions has been impossible. I wonder if any one can help me out with how I get it apart please ? The motor is built into the wheel and is only the size of the brake disc. I will try to get some fotos, but until I get the wheel out there is little to see. Thanking you in anticipation and forever hopeful Mark

Is nothing simple anymore ?
:):) Yes very good that. Yes I did think I was, up until I found an episode to watch-them thought actually, urgh NO. And yes I did watch it. ....when I were a lad It's still going well although I think the battery is getting a little (more) tired. Cheers Mark

Hi, yes the headset looks almost vertical which is partly I guess why it's such a long stretch to the bars. I tried to measure it and my best guesstimate is 13.5 degrees from a vertical upright using a spirit level. Strange that the frame description is as follows.. 6061 aluminum alloy, design based on human I'd like to meet the human they based it on

Is nothing simple anymore ?
Hi all, yet another newbie. I brought my first pedelec about 8 weeks ago, having spent about 2 months considering it and looking into what would suit my requirements. My little girl was starting school and we would be biking there together, its only half a mile but she had only just learnt to ride her bike without stabilisers, I would then ride to work, a further 1.5 mile, across town. The reverse return journey included, by car would be about an hour, 5% journey 95% sat in traffic going slower than walking. I had done a few practice runs on my old mountain bike which is what me made me think of electric power, suspension, good brakes and there are a few steep hills. As I am 49 and no longer a spring chicken, I needed a bike that would be comfortable. So my list then was..... Front and rear suspension- so a mountain bike type. Disc brakes so I could think I was 18 again riding my first motorbike with disc's. Ideally foldable. Hidden or concealed battery/electrics, after all, I didn't want an electric bike that looked like an eleçtric bike. I purchased off the interweb and received my poor quality bike, it had discs, front and rear suspension, it folded, throttle and pedal assist, I really enjoyed it but it's cheapness shone through during the assembly stage. With help from PayPal I got my money back and I then started to look again.... Again on the web. I spent weeks looking but it became evident that I would need to spend more than I wanted. I Was at the point of giving up the search when I came across a photo a bike. My heart immediately knew that was the bike I wanted. As it turned out the bike is made and sold in China (or that could be wrong) and possibly distributed in USA. I did some more digging and came across one for sale about 50 miles away, second hand but as good as new, having only done 16 miles....what a result! I went to see and test rode it, it didn't to feel to fit me too well, the seat even on a low setting is high to the ground but low to the pedals, which means I can just touch the floor with my feet but my feet are quite high and legs are well bent on the top stroke of the pedal. I'm average height at 5'10" It was quite a reach both forward and down to reach the bars, which puts the back in an uncomfortable arc and then sends the weight forward onto your thumbs, rather than a comfortable back straight, arms out and slightly bent posture. Although the bars are in front of the handler stem it felt quite nervous and twitchy over bumps when arm signaling and riding one handed. The pedal assist has about half a crank turn delay, both on and off which means you have to anticipate the input required for go and stop. Anyway all that aside and despite a brave battle between my head and my heart..... It looked awesome, so I paid the man and happily loaded the car for home. I have had it a few weeks now and I'm slowly getting it acceptably comfortable. I put a bar riser on, moved the seat forward in its slider and turned the seat post round, it took some pressure of the wrists and lifted me arms to almost straighten me back. I really do like the awesome look of the bike, it's nearly comfortable to ride, the power assist part is fine when your out on the open road, but when your following a 4 yr old on her bike who is constantly stop start, picking up twigs and leaves etc the pedal assist is useless to point of almost keep banging into her, but...... And it's a big but-trying to find someone local who can help when it goes wrong is a lot more challenging. I have a mechanical background for that side of it, but as for the electronics-pun intended... You may as well be talking in Chinese ! Well I do have questions including getting a very odd shaped battery replacement etc... But I'll ask those in the appropriate place. On yeah and its called a Crane Made by the Fu Jiang vehicle company ltd in China... I think. Cheers all and happy pedaling..... Or not (pedaling)
