  1. Hi all, My wife has a Carerra Vengeance ebike (bought in 2020 I believe), it wasn't used for a long time and now the battery won't charge or turn on. We took it to halfords who kept it for a few days and condemned the battery as expected, but they want just over £500 for a new battery which seems steep given that the capacity of the batteries are quite low too (I believe about 9ah). It's a 6 pin battery and I can't seem to find any cheaper options out there as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could get an alternative battery, or am I just going to have tp suck it up and get the battery from halfords?
  2. I think it really does come down to budget, but I'm slightly heavier than your Mrs. I have a Cube Hybrid Pro 2018 and I swear by it. Im as careful as I can be on it, avoid potholes etc and minimise dropping down curbs as much as I can. So far I've just had to get the wheel trued twice *touch wood*. Edit: it's worth mentioning I had a cube in 2016 at a similar weight only covered 500 miles on it but had no issues other than needing the wheel trued on that one too.
  3. I've got a Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro (2018) and I swear by it. The performance CX motor literally gets me up the steepest hill around here and lets me pull 2 kids in the trailer with ease, and at my weight, believe me that's one hell of a testament to the strength of the bike and motor. So I would wholeheartedly recommend the Reaction Pro and have done to family who have been equally impressed.
  4. Great thank you again soundwave. I'll have to weigh up the pros and cons of the 2 systems I think, as I mostly want them for the fitness functions. Do you happen to know if the data can sync to Strava by any chance?
  5. What display did you have before the nyon? The analytics is what I want specifically, I don't think I'll have too much use for the sat nav but is a nice to have feature
  6. Thank you soundwave. I'll settle for Purion then of nyon isn't doable. Is this something I could do myself if it's just one plug, or does it need to be programmed by a dealer?
  7. Hi all, My LBS aren't able to help but I was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to upgrade from the Bosch purion to the Kiox or Nyon and of so who would be able to do it? Im really not a fan of the Purion and would like the additional features. Many thanks Dan
  8. So... as embarrassed as I am to say it, I think you're right. I just looked at a promo video online and there's a very familiar dent on there . Thank you for your logical thinking, I don't know how I haven't stumbled on the dent until now, bit I'm glad you posted . Thanks again
  9. Hi all, So I've just noticed a dent in the seat stay of my Cube Hybrid Pro and was wondering what your thoughts are on if it's safe to ride or not. The strange thing I have no idea where it's come from which surprises me given the size of the dent, but we are where we are I suppose. If I do need to get a new bike does anyone have any suggestions on Bosch performance CX powered bike with a steel frame? It turns out you can't just buy a replacement frame, you have to buy the whole setup!
  10. Ah thank you, thank you, thank you! That looks like it should do it
  11. Hi all, I'm doing my own head in trying to find an innertube for my 29x2.60 tyre and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. They all seem to be up to 2.50. Please could someone help? I'm cycling a whole lot more with the lockdown and am looking to get some spare tubes. Thanks in advance Dan
  12. Hi all, I've had a look around but cant really see what phones the bosch smartphone hub is compatible with, does anyone happen to know please? I cant get to a shop to have a look at the moment so was hoping someone could shed some light Cheers Dan
  13. Hi all, Has anyone tried the cyclotricity mid drive kit? I'm looking to convert an old trek that I have just for a bit of fun or possibly to replace my wifes rear hub ebike as we live in quite a hilly area. Cheers, Dan
  14. Perfect, thank you very much for your help and additional explanation, that should help me moving forward
  15. Hi all, I'm looking to change out my Shwalbe Smart Sam tyres for something a little less chunky on my Cube Reaction if at all possible, and was hoping someone could help shed some light. The current tyre is: Schwalbe Smart Sam, Active, 44x622 Now, from what I've read, the 622 is the rim size, so 700c should be fine? But I also want something less chunky (on my old bike I had Marathon Plus which I found brilliant, and not one puncture) which is the bit I struggle with, will any 700c tyre go on? Please could someone let me know if my old favourite tyres would fit or something similar that will, they were 700c 38c. Thanks in advance for any help.
  16. Hey sorry for the delay getting back to you. The bikes been sold now sorry
  17. Just to add that the frame size is 20
  18. Hi all. I'm selling my Cube Cross Hybrid Pro 400 with the charger and battery. It's covered only 456 miles on cycle paths and roads, and runs nicely. It has the Bosch Active Line motor. It does have marks on as in the photos. I've also added a pannier rack and put shwalbe marathon smart guard tyres on. The disks have also been upgraded to 203mm. The rear wheel was changed due to a buckle, I still have the wheel if you want it and the original tyres but one of the tyres is low and the wheel would probably need to be respoked. I bought this in March 2016 from Damian Harris Cycles in Cardiff. If you have any questions please let me know. I'm not too sure on the value of these second hand so am open to sensible offers. Many thanks, Dan EDIT: Just to add I'm in South Wales around the Pontyclun area
  19. Thank you all very much for the replies, much appreciated and very helpful. It looks like I'll get a smaller sprocket and the 11-40 derailleur as its much cheaper than a bike! Will I need to get a new chain also for this?
  20. Hi All, I currently have the Bosch Active motor but was wondering if its possible to upgrade it to the Pefromance CX as due to my weight I'm struggling in some parts of my rides (live in a very hilly area), Does anyone know if dealers are able to swap these out to the Performance motors at all? Thanks for any help in advance
  21. Hi Tomme, I had to get a post to post mount to allow for the fitting, but that was it. Really straight forward . Are you in the process of doing the same thing?
  22. Hi all, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Thank you all for your suggestions. I ended upgrading to a 203mm disk and the improvement is just what I was after.. I can stop now! . Next up.. Tyres Thanks again, Dan
  23. Hi all, I have a Cube Cross Hybrid Pro 400 and whilst I do love it, I'm starting to get a little concerned with the braking power (or lack thereof) due to my weight. It has 160mm rotors which I'm guessing are not ideal given my heavier than usual weight for a bike! Does anyone happen to know if I can upgrade the brakes on this? It has Shimano BR-M355, Hydr Disc Brake system on it, would I need to also upgrade the system, or would adapters and larger disks be sufficient? Thanks in advance, Dan
  24. Hi All, I'm to a point now where I could really do with a 2nd battery but I really just don't have the £500 odd to fork out on the official Bosch battery. Doesn't anyone know of any (if there are in fact any) compatible batteries available for the Bosch Active line? I can only seem to find the old "classic" system batteries. Many Thanks Dan
  25. Thank you all for the replies. The encouragement and kindness from you all is just what I need to try and move to a safer weight. I'll be sure to keep you all updated as my journey unfolds .
