1. Does the frame accept a cable for a conventional derailleur? It looks like it has ports in the right places,a third party has said its possible, but i would like a confirmation. I definitely do not want sram wireless stuff! Edit ignore. Ive just read on their site it takes a 2m shift cable
2. Wisper Bikes i recall seeing these came with the 4A charger rather than the fast charger? How much extra is the dji fast charger? Edit. I suggest you post on emtb forums. There is a running thread and a lot of interest in this emtb. This forum is a clownshow.
3. Great news. This is top of the list for my next emtb. The unno didnt cut it due to lack of cable derailleur port. I don't want sram electric foolishness! Following with great interest. Take my money! Well actually dont. Seeing as i nearly got burnt by pole last year to the tune of 5k, im only ever walking into a shop, paying and walking out with a bike from now on.
4. Obviously its not possible to do that. For sale 1 crossfire-e, only 5 genuine miles
5. Well I got my faulty bike back from halfords today, they had it 3 weeks or so whilst it was sent away. It looks like the rear hub motor has been swapped out and also the front chainring/sensor. I cant fault them really as I didnt have any proof of purchase, although a failed motor at 1000km isnt great. Fingers crossed it doesnt pack up again.
6. Charger isnt too bad, battery is dear though, but I guess thats too be expected. Personally I think the existing battery will outlast the rest of the bike! It seems impossible to buy hesc suntour bits anywhere, google shows up absolutely nothing which I find a real concern to be at the mercy of halfords.
7. Some very rough guidance please. My halfords carerra crossfire has packed up. I'm not the original owner & have no receipt for warranty & I have no faith in them being able to assist. (I suspect the controller or torque sensor in the crank) So I have the hub motor & the battery. I am assuming a battery is a battery & a motor is a motor. So I need a controller, a digital display & some sort of torque sensor? Can anyone please suggest what would work? Awaiting being told I cant use the motor or battery as they are all different...
8. Bugger I had no assist when leaving work tonight in the rain. There is a new rubbing noise coming from the crank area, sounds like something has come loose. Will investigate tomorrow once its light. UPDATE Nothing obvious wrong, took the plastic battery thing apart covering the electronics, all wires seem good. Panel comes on, the walking assist works. All the screws were loose inside though, the 2 holding the battery prongs on was especially loose, so that maybe accounts for the cutouts. I suspect the torque sensor & am dropping it into halfords tomorrow. I dont hold out much hope to be honest.
9. The overload explanation is plausible, but a massive design fault if true. Whenever mine cuts, its ALWAYS up a light incline. In fact I can predict where it will fail if its going to. It did again this morning in exactly the same spot as it has done a few times in the past. In fact I was taking it super easy up this hill after reading about this. The control panel is dead & wont switch back on. The battery has to be turned back on, then the panel can be switched on, but it only lasts 10 secs or so before turning off again. Reseating the battery will resolve it, as will leaving it whilst I'm in work. It will be ok again once I ride home in the evening. I have tried packing the space between the battery & the frame and also using a webbing strap to hold the battery firmly to the frame to no avail, so the battery turning itself off sounds the most likely. Unfortunately I bought mine seconds hand, so have no warranty.
10. Ha it depends! Downhill - the same Uphill - quicker Flat - maybe slower, its a heavy bike once you are above the assist speed. Getting away from junctions - quicker You will arrive at work fresher though for sure. And on mornings when you are a bit tired or after a long day, crank up the assist, slow down so you always have assistance and cruise My 3.5 mile commute takes a max of 15 mins, often less. Walking took 50 mins, driving 10.
11. You are just using it for commuting? It depends on the route, traffic, cycle paths and hills really. My commute is 3.5 miles each way, with 4 steep'ish hills & quite a bit of twisty turny bits that the assist is good for. When I get going im out of the overly low assist speed anyway, so still get a bit of a sweat on, but nothing compared to riding a normal bike. If you have a straight flat route, then a lightweight cycle may be more suitable? For me, the carerra has brought the fun back into riding a bike, i absolutely love mine, but do wish it was a little faster.
12. Its rubbish, but better than solid forks. I wouldnt dream of riding mine on anything but tarmac. Its notably smoother with lockout off. I see no point in the lockout at all, not on this sort of bike anyway. Fair enough on a long travel mtb when you are stamping on it trying to cycle up hill to reduce the bob, but not on this.
13. Maybe its just me but any ebike with a front derailleur is a massive turn off. I dont want the extra handlebat clutter & complexity & see no need for one on an ebike. Heck even my top end mountain bikes dont have these fitted anymore!
14. It isnt. Maybe rotate it 90 degrees forward so it points down then wrap a plastic bag around it? Also this ebay bike, its been up for months, since I bought my bike from ebay anyway. Not much use without a charger, thats why I didnt buy it despite being local. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carrera-C...645300?hash=item1a1375ed74:g:NwUAAOSwl-FXNK04
15. Its slowly spins the rear wheel, not sure what the point is. Ive never used it. Maybe useful to help push it home if you get a puncture?
