My first Brompton went back to the factory and came back worse than before! It was one of the first ones available. The second one worked very well but I had an unrelated to cycling accident and broke my elbow. I was concerned that the vibration would cause problems as the break was bad so as I was offered a good price for it I sold it. When I recovered I missed my bike so much I looked at others but the Brompton was so handy…… yep…. You guessed… I bought another and, touch wood have had no problems at all. Brompton now have an app to track ride details but more importantly, if you mount it on the handlebars, you can swipe your screen to alter the power from 0 to 3. This was promised from very early on but took them a few years to get it released.

Hi.... If you start with the LEFT pedal, the power should come in after 1/4 to 1/2 a rotation of the pedals. I have had two electric Bromptons and that's how they worked, as did the demo bike I tried. Good luck

Hi Jimmy, it is suitable for all sizes of rider... my good friend is 5’4” and still has the seatpost raised. The handle bars have loads of adjustments, up, down and even some fore and aft adjustments. If you open the advert, there is one button to press for more, then a second will open the advert in full. I’m in County Durham, near Beamish Open Air Museum. I am asking for £1500 which is about a £900 saving on a bike “as new”” with 107 miles on the clock.

I found cycling really helps after knee surgery... full movement and pretty good muscle strength bearing in mind I had my kneecap removed 40 years ago which loses a lot of “leverage “. The reason I was holding back on purchase was I didn’t want a new bike sitting there and unable to use it for about six months! The new one, as I said in my last posting, is fantastic and am using it every day while the medicos decide what to do with my other knee. It is helping keep / increase muscle strength which helps “post op” whenever they decide to sort it for me. The other bit of great news is I’ve sold my standard Brompton (non electric) for a very healthy £880 which is truly amazing for a second hand bike!

When I started this thread I posted a detailed report. All was well. Then I had problems that neither the dealer nor Brompton could solve so I got a full refund as it was deemed “ not fit for the purpose “. I posted that I would wait until the spring and try again. Well I waited a bit longer as I was waiting to see what the surgeon suggested about a second knee replacement...... I got fed up waiting so ordered a new Electric Brompton H6R . My original one was one of the first off the production line and there must have been a problem with a batch of motors, controllers or whatever to cause the problems they couldn’t fix at the factory. I got the new one a month ago and so far have covered 100 very pleasurable faultless miles... it’s a different beast entirely.... very smooth and plenty of power... far more than the original.

Sold
