Help.....What Tablet.....
Hi Lyn have you checked out the new samsung series 3 chromebook ?.I bought one as backup while I upgrade my desktop and I have found it excellent for basic tasks such as surfing, email, banking etc. It starts up and is ready to go in about ten seconds, security is built in so you have no hassle with that and the keyboard is one of the best I have tried on any laptop. In fact I have found it so quick and convenient that I hardly use the desktop anyway now LOL.There is no hard drive or any moving parts so overheating is no problem and anything you want to keep is stored in the cloud so it never slows down.It is cheap to buy at £229 so it might be worth checking out. regards styx

Kalkhoff Chain Not Kalkhoff Chain
Hi aldby. I also ordered a replacement agattu chain from 50C some time ago.I had not got round to fitting it yet so after reading your post I went to check it.Mine has 122 links and looks to be the correct width so perhaps you were sent the wrong type in error.

Panasonic/Kalkhoff crank play
Kalkhoff crank Hi quilly 21 I am also experiencing this sensation of movement in the left crank of my agattu though mine seems to happen at the top of the pedal movement as the downward stroke begins it feels exactly like the movement you would get with a slightly loose crank so my first reaction was to tighten the crank bolt though this did not cure it.Following this I tried changing the crank and pedals and also made sure the motor fixing bolts were tight all to no avail.I can detect no movement in the shaft. The problem has been there since the bike was new and has not worsened .I am not familiar with the internal workings of the panasonic system and wondered if the slight clunk could be due the operation of some form of sensor clicking by which causes the impression of slight movement in the crank.

Li-ion or LiFePo
Panasonic battery warranty Hi everybody With regard to the 2 year warranty does it mean that if the the power starts to drop (ie. less than 5 lights on diagnostic) within 2 years it will be replaced or or is some drop in power deemed acceptable?. Regards Styx

Bring back wotwozere, the site was a much more lively place when he was around.I think a lot of people were disappointed by the way he was treated.

Speed, Power and Lycra
I think you have to take into account the enormous effort a sprinters team put into protecting him. He will spend the entire stage on the back wheel of his team mates and rarely "put his nose into the wind" so he is effectively slipstreaming which has an enormous effect on his aerodynamic drag .They then lead him out at the last possible moment for the sprint and he is then expected to deliver and boy does Cavendish deliver .

Agattu throttle fitted
I'm afraid the agattu throttle is only useful when walking alongside the bike and is no use at all while riding.

Agattu throttle fitted
Hi intex There are also pictures on the 50cycles website of the throttle fitted to a proconnect.Even allowing for the higher performance of the proconnect I do not think it would make a great enough difference for the throttle to be much use while riding. All this assumes of course that the performance of my bike with the throttle will be norm for all other bikes. It could be that my throttle is faulty and not delivering the power it should. It is adequate for my needs which involves walking the bike along rough steep tracks too rough to ride along on an agattu and also walking up some of the particularly severe climbs to conserve the battery. styx

Agattu throttle fitted
Hi Fecn If you go to the 50cycles website you will find pictures of the throttle fitted to an agattu along with the fitting instructions. I did try walking the bike up a very severe hill off road which is steeper than any hill you are likely to encounter on normal roads. It climbed it ok in normal trim but I don't know how it would cope with an extra 35kg.You can of course change down to a lower gear to gain more pulling power but with a corresponding reduction in speed. Agattu throttle fitted
Yes the standard sprocket but I would not think a smaller sprocket would make a significant difference and the power input is so low that the bike will hardly move with a rider on board.I assume the power input is set as changing the assist level seems to have no effect.

Agattu throttle fitted
Hi Today I fitted a panasonic throttle to my Agattu. It is marketed as a walk alongside throttle and that is exactly what it is.It is perfectly adequate for the circumstances I bought it for and I am pleased with it.It will pull the bike up the steepest of slopes at a comfortable walking pace but it is far too slow to be of any use while riding the bike.the highest speed registered on my computer while walking alongside was just under 4 mph, I don't know how accurate my computer is but I could walk alongside comfortably at its highest speed.Fitting it was straightforward and took about 20 mins. styx

LED on Kalkoff Pro Connect 2008
Hi onslow. I agree absolutely with your reply,we do not all possess the literary expertise and technical knowledge of some of our more illustrious members.I personally consider bob's posts to be without malice and often amusing, sadly this can not be said for some of the reactions to his posts .

New Panasonic Throttle Kit
I live in a very hilly rural area and there are many instances where I would find the walk alongside throttle facility very useful.Due to the nature of the terrain I am always either climbing or descending , in fact I can not think of a flat stretch of road within five miles of where I live.Obviously it takes at least twice as long to climb a hill than it does to descend it so most of my rides are spent climbing.I am used to climbing these hills on a conventional bike so I am quite a strong rider and put in a lot of pedal power on these climbs but even so the battery is very soon depleted. Some of these hills although relatively short are extremely severe and I've found that by pushing the bike up these hills I can extend the range of the battery quite markedly so a little assistance from the throttle would be useful. Also many of the roads I use are connected by rough farm track short cuts which though I ride them on my mountain bike are simply too rough to contemplate riding an agattu along .So once again a little assistance would come in very handy. Therefore I will certainly be investing in a throttle kit when they become available. styx

Yes flecc. thats what came to mind when I first read these posts, particularly the one which described the subject of these cryptic remarks as a loon. Was the person referred to a participant in this jocularity? if so I take back my observation. styx

Kalkhoff Agattu gear ratio's
Can anyone throw any light on this - I have checked the dots line up on the hub change mechanism when the selector is in 4th gear but cannot imagine what can be wrong other than the hub has been wrongly assembled in some way and has the wrong ratio's in it. PED-AL Allan Hi Allan I had the same problem twice with my Agattu. The first set of gears lost 1st, 2nd and third. The second set had the same problem as you are experiencing changing up from 5th was the same as changing back down to 4th and 7th the same ratio as 3rd.So I was on my third back wheel and needed a battery replacement within the first hundred or so miles.I had owned the bike for nearly three months before I completed a ride without any problems.Since then everything has been ok (touch wood). regards Bob

A Good Toy While the Battery Lasted
Battery costs Hi all. I see from the 50cycles site that the cost of a replacement panasonic battery is now £395 with a charger costing £95.Am I right in thinking that until recently the cost of a battery was £295?.I understand from posts I have read that the average useful battery life is around 2 years, so a cost of about £200 per year. When you take into account the initial outlay for the bike (in my case £1300 for my agattu) and add in insurance and maintaining the bike, e-biking is perhaps not as cheap an alternative form of transport as it might first appear to be. Agattu pulse
Hi wot ,succinct and straight to the point as usual. It's always good to get advice from some one who really knows what they are on about. cheers!! Styx

Agattu pulse
Hi Flecc. Thanks for the info. After years of riding a conventional bike up these steep hills I don't think I've adapted yet to the assistance from the pedelec system so I'm probably putting a bit too much effort into it.When I get my battery back I'll try riding in a more laid back style. regards. Agattu pulse
Hi everybody. Is it normal to get a pulsing effect in the power delivery of the pedelec system.I have tried moving through the gears from low to as high as can comfortably be managed and also tried "ankling" to keep the pedal pressure as constant as possible but still get an audible and physical pulse effect. There are occasions when the power delivery seems to smooth out but I can not see any obvious reason why this happens. This is not a major problem but I just wondered if this was a characteristic of the pedelec system. Regards. Styx
