The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike
I have a customer waiting for something just like this! Shame it's not available now.
-
Completely new to E-bikes
Must have missed that. But that is ridiculously small. I use bigger batteries on model aircraft!
-
Completely new to E-bikes
If that's true then it's ridiculously small! The capacity should be clearly stated though. Don't think I even have any bikes available with a battery that small.
-
Completely new to E-bikes
Just having a quick look through that and I can't find any information on what battery is supplied with any of the kits.
-
Completely new to E-bikes
If you're after a kit I would recommend the Cyclotricity ones. I sell quite a few of these and you can build the kit to suit your budget and needs. https://powerbikes.uk/product-category/conversion-kit/ Alternatively the Batribike Delta is a well built and popular mountain bike which also has a built in throttle. https://powerbikes.uk/shop/e-bikes/batribike-delta/ Happy to answer any questions you may have. Cheers Richard

Deal when buying a new bike
Really does depend on the bike. There isn't a huge markup on E-Bikes so there is only so much that can be taken off.

New to Electric cycling
Hello Turkeylegs! You won't be disappointed with the Cyclotricity kit. It really is a good kit!
-
Interesting Batribike
Love it! Always had a soft spot for vintage bikes.
-
Interesting Batribike
It's a really good feature for anyone wanting it an ebike that isn't so obvious. The Perdu and Quintessential have hidden batteries. I actually really like the Quintessential Battery nicely tucked away in the leather saddle bag Full spec here: https://powerbikes.uk/shop/e-bikes/style/step-through/batribike-quintessential/

Definitely not for commuting
Not difficult, just expensive. But that's if you are lucky enough to have one break. They are pretty sturdy motors! All motors have their pro's and cons but you shouldn't need worry about replacing them. The few that do break are normally under warranty.
-
Definitely not for commuting
The Raleigh Motus ticks the boxes. It's a very popular and reliable bike! £2000 https://powerbikes.uk/product-tag/motus/ Or there is a slightly cheaper lower spec version the Captus (smaller battery, no lights and a couple of other bits) £1750 https://powerbikes.uk/product-tag/captus/ These are roughly 1kg more than the cyclone.

Sub £1000 bike for a 7 mile commute on canal towpath. Less sweats needed!
Which bike did you go for in the end? Just for future reference, Powerbikes does Kudos bikes on cycle schemes.

FREE 24 hour E Bike Trial in West Cumbria
It's not too bad most of the time but during the rush hours it can be absolutely ridiculous. Gridlock for hours, especially if there is a closure or incident of some sort. Cyclists fly past everyone and there is the added bonus of cycle paths a lot of the way. So in the interest of going green, saving money, getting to work faster and getting a little exercise in the process I'd like to offer the free E Bike trials. For those who aren't cyclists and aren't sure if they will enjoy it or have the confidence or ability, a trial run is much better than being put off by the worry of buying a bike and never/not being able to using it. I hope that for many it will be nice to have the opportunity to dip your toe in before taking the plunge and buying an e bike.

FREE 24 hour E Bike Trial in West Cumbria
All most people need to convert to an e-bike is a quick go on one but when choosing a mode of transport for commuting it can be a little more difficult to make the commitment. This is mainly aimed at getting more people out of their cars and onto bikes around West Cumbria. Anyone in the area will tell you what the traffic is like for the Sellafield commute. Cyclists fly past the traffic most of the time and any journey by car is painstakingly slow. If anyone would like to try an E-Bike for their commute just get in touch! https://powerbikes.uk/free-e-bike-trial/

What's the best way to strip insulation from very thin wire?
Or using said long nails, hold the cable up pinned between them holding it at the spot you want to strip it and using a sharp/new stanley blade you can gently cut/score round the insulation. Then you can easily pinch the insulation off. I've never used a soldering iron to remove insulation. That would just be messy and I'd have to clean the soldering iron.

Bike Purchase Advice - 22 Mile (one way) Commute
These are big batteries but they do fit on most bikes. If you are wanting the option to de-restrict, the rear hub conversions aren't too much more. However, more power means more juice required. We have customers round here using the 48v 250/1000w kits to commute from Whitehaven to Sellafield. There and back is roughly the same as one leg of your journey. (Some long steep hills on the route!) The big 768Wh (16Ah) battery will make the journey there and back twice. Although normally they do top the battery up while at work. Most people who use these kits with the big battery report a range of roughly 40-45 miles. So they will do your commute but I would advise charging either end if possible. More info on the big kits here https://powerbikes.uk/shop/conversion-kit/dual-power-2501000w-switchable-conversion-kit-rear-wheel-motor/ If you have any questions about these just let me know.

Bike Purchase Advice - 22 Mile (one way) Commute
There is a big and noticeable difference between branded and generic Chinese imports. It's the same across many industries. From e-bikes to i-phones. Buy something that has been made to the specifications of a company then the quality is high. (So long as it has been specified by said company) Buy something that is a copy or a cheap generic version then you're bound to have problems. (As commonly found on eBay) iPhones are made in china yet regarded as high quality. There are many products that come out of china nowadays that are of equally high quality.

Need help choosing a bike for 19 mile commute
Most well known brands use good quality cells. If you're buying a cheapo from ebay then there is a good chance it's cheap for a reason. Any of the bikes listed so far are built to a high standard with good quality parts and will be good for what you are wanting to use them for. (I currently don't stock Woosh, Cube or Oxygen. So my commenting on their quality is not biased.) I can post a suggestion for something that I do stock. Big battery, good for hills, roads with mud guards and integrated lights so ideal for commuting and has the option for hub gears. Big British Company, made in Taiwan with a German motor. Raleigh Motus https://powerbikes.uk/product-tag/motus/ These are really popular bikes. I think the Cube has the better looks though. Woosh I know if you were to ever have an issue you will have good aftersales service. The Oxygen and Cube depends on who you buy it from really.

Ebike noob in Nottingham
Hi Ryan! Good to hear you've already experienced that e-bike grin! It's quite addictive.
