Yes indeed they do - is it possible to put together a similiarly priced build using seperate parts, or is the extra complexity of the controller/screen required always going to add on a large % do you think?

There are seperate adverts for each motor, and it's explained below It is a chinese company with a UK warehouse, so willing to be lenient with quality of written english.

Details: Currently on a rawed voodoo biazango frame (29" wheeled MTB) running rigid with a rohloff (oh yeah). Has a 27.9Ah 52V battery made from 33G cells and a smart BMS (from em3ev). Upfront running a lekkie 36t bling ring - however, having issues with chainline on the rohloff - so havent been able to do a proper ride First impressions, this thing FLIES - in a scary way. Unsure what I was expecting, but this is fast. However I have been playing with direct mount stems that have speeded up my steering, so it might be that making me uneasy. Pics to follow once I get out on a real ride with it! Might also switch the BBSHD to a different bike depending on how I use it the most. The intense acceleration makes me want to jump it!

Just curious what people thought the cheapest possible conversion available was? Not my intention to mislead! Just presenting, what to my mind, are two viable schools of thought. Hence the pre-face about end user needs. (as a continuation: an awful lot of emphasis on ebike resources - for diy - is put on power, increasing amp draw etc. but for most casual users, especially those looking for city use, a relatively 'legal' kit works bob on.) To the OP - the ideal would be to borrow or rent a few ebikes and then make a judgement on predicted long term usage. IMO.

Just built up! I may end up putting the Bafang on the MTB you can see hanging on the left, but for now it's my old bike in touring guise! Going out for a spin in a minute!

However, I'd argue strongly for only getting Lion batteries. Then again, this is only 10Ah, but it gets you out the blocks! EDIT: I think it's important to understand the needs of the end user. I spent about £500 on my first/only battery because I wanted max range, 52V, reliability, and long battery life. Crucially, this is because I plan to use the battery on lots of projects, for lots of uses, over a long time. Casual ebike use, first build, actually I feel it makes more sense to get a battery like then one linked and then go from there.

I have also got one, and wouldnt be without now.. conversley my bike is rigid and SS because I hate the maintenance of suspension. Giant's dropper post is similiarly good value, and I believe it to be more reliable than the brand x. Alternatively for a bit more, I am now running the ethirteen dropper post as it is one of the few purely mechanical posts you can buy in the UK hassle free. (Obv gravity dropper post from USA, and Vecnum from Germany are options, but I prefer the design of the Ethirteen)

A club sounds like a good idea - it can then be used to lobby for ebike rights and support. Perhaps even a collaborative project with Sustrans? E.g. A promotional video - and then when the public see ebikes in use on normal trials, they can come here, to the 'official home' of ebikes in the UK and get decent advice. Rather than going to a shop and being force fed a POS, or a very highly priced bicycle.

Hiya there RoverT, I also have CFS - full blown. Gone from a cyclist racer to full on bed worm, nasty stuff. Just beggining to get out now and have built myself a Bafang BBSHD based build. You are absolutely on the right track with an electric bike - it has made such a difference! A WORD OF CAUTION: I underestimated the effects of stress on my CFS, so I can only use a fraction of the banfangs power, too much and what used to excite me (speed) no leaves me in a tired mess. Hoever, I view the system as an invesment for the future - it's not just for now, it's for as I get better, so I hope to use all its potential. What does the electric bike mean to you? Is it a small quick help, or you do envisage doing big rides/sportives/adventures with family/friends? The two main options in my mind: A uber cheap - proven - kit from BMSBattery (probably the Q100) will set you back about £250 inc. battery. Great for now, and the future, providing you needs dont change. Something more powerful - a range of options from EM3ev - great battery and motor options (both hub and mid drive) and top notch communication/backup. Range from £500-1500 depending on your choice!

Hi there Froggy, Would you be open to a custom build? If you would your lightest option would be a Bafang BBS02, and then you can choose the appropriate battery. Can get the whole thing from Ecplise bikes, or ebikebatteries (in the UK) for less than £500 and put it on a nice commuter/road bike. Voila, lighter, customisable, and cheaper than pre-built bikes. Just a thought!
