  1. I have a 1000w hub drive at the moment, so yeah I'm a target The thing about the newer crank drives is theyre pretty stealth what with the hidden battery and the absence of a giant hub motor And I got a lot fitter with the crank drive ebike
  2. My first ebike was a 2018 Cube Kathmandu. A clip on dongle derestricted it. Nice and simple. Tuning kits now look quite complicated, and I'm not 100% sure I'd get it right. Are they any new crank drive ebikes out there that can be easily derestricted? ie without a fiddly tuning kit Obviously for use on private land Thanks
  3. Impossible to prove because you can - technically -pedal faster than the cut off point It would be laughed out of court (although it wouldn't get that far) You have to be caught in the act That probably explains why they holiday in the Bahamas each winter and store their money in the Caymans
  4. really? Plus installation that would cost several hundred pounds a connector probably costs a few quid plus half an hour of labour
  5. A lot of these guys aren't even paid minimum wage, and have no choice but to work in the gig economy. As for "standard" tax evasion - like the other 4 million self-employed people in the UK, there are records of how they're paid and they are required to file a tax return every year
  6. I paid someone to convert a bike to an ebike However, there's no plug in the cable that leads to the rear hub motor, ie one that is positioned a few inches from where the cable enters the hub motor. This makes removing the rear wheel for repairs etc a PITA. The connectors are currently in the bag that houses the power controller, by the seat. It's not very practical because of all the cabling. So I'd like to buy and fit a waterproof connector (or pay someone else to do it) It's a 1500w motor with a 48v battery Is there a generic type of connector, or would you need to know more about the type of motor etc? Thanks for any assistance
  7. Then it's a solid choice Puncture resistant tires too I'm 6"1 and bike feels comfortable
  8. Not me selling but I have one It's a decent bike, soaks up any bumps, but like all 250w bikes it won't go past 18mph even when derestricted or 15.5mph when restricted If you're happy with that, that's OK. If you want speed, there's other ways to achieve that
  9. Thanks for your help I'm not sure what the controller is, will have to check it later. I'll reply anon
  10. I have a 36V 250w rear hub motor ebike, which I upgraded to a 1000w motor. The pedal sensor has 6 magnets, but on the new kit the LCD only has settings for 5, 8 or 12 magnets. The only setting that works is 12. However, there is a bit of lag before the motor kicks in which is greater than existed before. Is the lag because of the discrepancy between the number of magnets and the LCD settings? If I changed the sensor to one with 12 magnets, would this make a difference? Thanks
  11. Edit: Found them! Can't seem to delete this, sorry
  12. You're welcome. Making the right decision is important. Woosh bikes are easy to derestrict, although they don't encourage it and it negates your guarantee. Faro will do 18mph derestricted Camino I'm not sure but at least 20mph so more fun.
  13. Yes it will provide enough oomph However, I'd only buy it if you need a light bike eg if you have it to carry up stairs The Woosh Camino or Grand Camino will give you far more bang for your buck Bigger bike, more power, more comfortable ride. Bigger tires which are also puncture resistant.
  14. Hi I'm interested, but I'm in London so I'm not sure how this could work
