Volt 4 Year Battery
Bike is having it's annual service this weekend, from the dealership where it was purchased from. I will ask them the same question & post the remarks here!

Volt 4 Year Battery
Here is the an extract from the Volt email. The prices for batteries in our replacement scheme are as follows: Black standard battery - £280 Silver standard battery - £280 (Though these are currently out of stock, we don't have a confirmed date yet for when they will be back) Black XL battery - £520 There is a £10 delivery fee which would bring the total amount to £290 for a Standard or £530 for an XL. We advise all customers to stop using their battery after its life expectancy is reached. If it is used after this point we advise to keep it, and charge it, outside of the home. For safety, batteries should not be stored in or near any living quarters, and must be kept out of direct sunlight, in a dry environment away from flammable materials. I have a Metro LS folder as I have a touring caravan, so to answer the asked question, I do use it in the summer on weekends, I do take it away with us. Have riden it in France & all over the UK. My wife does not ride, so it's all solo rides.

Volt 4 Year Battery
Volt has also said. It is not recommended to keep + 4 year old batteries indoors. As I keep bike & battery indoors as I have no where else to keep the bike? I think it's a sales pitch? but wanted some advice from those with more experience than myself?

Volt 4 Year Battery
Hi All My Volt Metro LS is now 4 years old. It has not done a lot of miles, as my commute is only 0.5 miles one way in the dry. Volt are saying that a 4 year old battery should be replaced, at a cost of £530 for a replacement (large size), as they are out of stock of the standard size and don't know when stock will be back. My question is, Do I replace battery. Re cell battery, if so how & where? Or scrap bike, purchase a cheap Chinese legal import for not a lot more than the cost of a replacement Volt battery. Whats your thoughts?

Can anyone explain to me whey such a bike as the Volt Big Foot is for off road only? It has the same motor and controls as others in the Volt range. I cannot find anything on it relating to why it's off road only. Thanks for your replies!

Brompton Electric Bike... Made by Brompton
Hi Big G In Feb. & Dec 2017 I had both knees replaced. This May I had further knee surgery. It has not stopped me using my Volt. What did stop me was several spokes failing on the same rids. Had a total rim replacement and rebuild of the hub driven wheel. Back on the bike and it helps, with the knees. Enjoy it!

Spokes
Picked the bike up today from Local bike shop. New rim, new spokes. all silver, not black Cost to local shop £30, have not had anything from Volt! Riding and time will be the decider!

Spokes
For a numpty To check the tension on a wheel (something, I have never done) at the nipple is it clock wise to tension, or anticlockwise? As I said above, wheel geometry is new to me. Woosh stated that he nips up wheels with a sixteenth of a turn?

Spokes
Ok, lets see what Volt comes back with. I take on board what you have all said. Thank for the input. 14g it is

Spokes
I don't understand spoke geometry. What I do understand, is if something is larger in diameter, surely it will be stronger. Looking at Sapim 12g or 13g ebike spokes have diameters of 2.3mm or 2.6mm. I am no Geraint Thomas, but from the same part of the country. Not looking for lightness, my ride is a Volt Metro LS, with 20" wheels, coming in at 22kg with the uprated battery, so another 0.5kg is neither here nor there?

Spokes
A bit of news! Volt contacted me today by email. They want the wheel back. New rim with different spokes. As the bike is at my local bike shop, hoping for a spoke repair. Volt will pick up wheel from them and they said will return it by this Friday? Will post the outcome!
